After reportedly enduring an "emotional breakdown" more than two months ago, Selena Gomez is now checked out of the mental health treatment center she entered and instead with friends on a ski vacation.
The singer's friends, Connar Franklin and Bailee Madison, both posted Instagram photos with Gomez on Tuesday. A source told PEOPLE she's "feeling much better and looking forward to getting back to normalcy" while "spending time with friends and family."
Back in October, Gomez was hospitalized twice — both times because she had a low white blood cell count, which is common for kidney transplant patients. Gomez had a transplant last year because of her ongoing battle with lupus.
During her second hospitalization, Gomez reportedly had a panic attack. A source told TMZ that she was "despondent and emotional" over the low white blood cell count. This prompted her to enter a treatment center on the East Coast, where she underwent dialectical behavior therapy (a treatment often used for various mental health conditions).
"She has had a tough few weeks and the panic attack in the hospital was the tipping point," a source told PEOPLE at the time.
Gomez had previously announced that she was taking a break from social media. "As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given," she captioned an Instagram photo. "Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember— negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi."
The singer has always been open about her struggle with both lupus and depression and anxiety. Hopefully she is in and continues to be in a good place!
