A Texas Woman Celebrated Her Divorce By Blowing Up Her Wedding Dress

The saying, “Don’t mess with Texas,” is no where more evident than with this Texas bride who decided to celebrate the end of her 14-year long marriage by blowing up her wedding dress.

Kimberly Santleben-Stiteler of Lacoste, Texas enlisted the help of her brother to set explosives inside her wedding dress, step back and celebrate the finalization of her divorce with a bang.

"It was soooo awesome. It was bigger and louder than I could have imagined." Santleben-Stiteler told Circa.

The idea came from the bride's father and brother who rigged the dress with $200 worth of Tannerite, an explosive material used for longer range firearms training. The dress was then set to explode with a single rifle shot.

Santleben-Stiteler's sister, Carla told her local newspaper, Centre Daily Times, "We have a friend who is a bomb tech, and he kept saying, ‘that’s really a lot,’ like five different times, when we told him our plan. So we had to back it up."

When the time came on Saturday night, Santleben-Stiteler pulled the trigger, hit the bullseye and the 20-pound payload was detonated.

The explosion was one that was so loud and powerful that Santleben-Stiteler says people could hear it from 15 miles away.

“On the one hand, it was like being on set of some action movie. The explosion was huge,” Kimberly said. “It was liberating pulling that trigger. It was closure for all of us."
