No matter how high-profile a couple is, they still experience some of that classic relationship awkwardness. (It sort of comes with the territory of loving another person.)
In a visit to Sussex, the English county they serve as Duke and Duchess of, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stood together greeting a group of local children. A video surfaced of a sort of awkward moment of PDA between the royal newlyweds. Take a look:

Meghan attempted to put a hand on Harry’s back, but he kept moving around to pat more children on the head. (Is patting children on the head a traditional thing for figureheads to do during appearances?) As Harry moved, Meghan still kinda kept her hand hovering over Harry’s back, waiting to touch it again when he would become more still.
People are lauding over this kinda awkward maneuver, but I don’t really understand the hype. Has nobody else ever tried to hold hands with their person while driving, weirdly alternating between interlocking and letting go? Or snuggling and having an emphatic conversation at the same time, moving away when you need to gesture with their hands?
I think of this interaction as more of a way that Harry and Meghan are just like us (except, you know, part of an ages-old monarchy). The two also flew Economy class on a New Year’s trip to France. They love watching reality TV together. Meghan’s family got into some drama before their wedding. They’re just people!
Cringe at Meghan and Harry’s PDA if you must, but just know that you have done something equally cringey, yourself. Awkwardness is what truly bonds us all.
