Good morning Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

Christine Blasey Ford Calls for FBI Investigation Into Her Sexual Assault Allegations Against Brett Kavanaugh

The woman who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, Christine Blasey Ford, wants the FBI to investigate the incident before the senate holds a hearing on the allegations. According to CNN's Anderson Cooper, in a letter addressed to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, her attorney argued that "a full investigation by law enforcement officials will ensure that the crucial facts and witnesses in this matter are assessed in a non-partisan manner, and that the Committee is fully informed before conducting any hearing or making any decisions."

When requesting to speak with Grassley and Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein, Ford's lawyers cited the "vicious harassment and even death threats." As of right now, the Senate Judiciary Committee plans to hold a public hearing next Monday, where they'll call both Kavanaugh and Ford to testify. While Ford said she'll talk with the committee, she doesn't want to do so at a hearing on Monday. Her lawyers are currently seeking a way Ford "can cooperate while also taking care of her own health and security," the letter said.

According to CNN, Grassley said that there were never any plans to sit Ford and Kavanaugh together while testifying. "Immediately after learning of Dr. Ford's identity from news reports Sunday, committee staff started working to gather facts related to her claims," he said. We've offered Dr. Ford the opportunity to share her story with the committee, as her attorney said yesterday she was willing to do. We offered her a public or a private hearing as well as staff-led interviews, whichever makes her most comfortable. The invitation for Monday still stands."

Grassley continued, "Dr. Ford's testimony would reflect her personal knowledge and memory of events. Nothing the FBI or any other investigator does would have any bearing on what Dr. Ford tells the committee, so there is no reason for any further delay."

Feinstein, however, said in a statement that she supported Ford's proposal. "We should honor Dr. Blasey Ford's wishes and delay this hearing. A proper investigation must be completed, witnesses interviewed, evidence reviewed and all sides spoken to. Only then should the chairman set a hearing date," she said. "I hope that each and every one of us will immediately denounce the horrific treatment of Dr. Blasey Ford. That this brave woman is receiving death threats and has been forced to flee with her family is appalling and heartbreaking. This abuse must stop. We're better than this."

Kavanaugh has strongly denied Ford's allegations, calling them "completely false."

Julie Chen is Leaving The Talk Amid Allegations Against Her Husband Les Moonves

Just a week after her husband Les Moonves resigned from his post as chief executive of CBS after sexual misconduct allegations, Julie Chen is quitting CBS'The Talk. She announced the news in a video message that aired on Tuesday's The Talk, a talk show that she co-hosted for nearly a decade. "Right now I need to spend more time at home with my husband and young son,” Chen said. "Thank you viewers for allowing me into your home. It was a privilege."

The video was apparently filmed from the Big Brother set, another CBS show that Chen has worked on for years. According to CNN, she'll continue to host the reality competition.

Chen's decision to quit The Talk came after days of uncertainty about her status at CBS. Moonves is facing allegations of sexual misconduct by several women, which first surfaced in a report by Ronan Farrow for The New Yorker. Chen has publicly supported her husband, who's denied the accusations. She even released a statement calling him "a good man and a loving father, devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader."

Ireland Officially Repealed its Constitutional Ban on Abortion

After Ireland voted to overturn the country's abortion ban by 66.4 percent to 33.6 percent, Irish President Michael D. Higgins officially signed the referendum bill into law on Tuesday. As a result, the Eighth Amendment — which granted "an equal right to life to the mother and the unborn child,"— was formally repealed. Now, the Irish government's recommendation is that women are able to access abortion within the first 12 weeks of a pregnancy, BBC reported

"It’s done, it’s really done and while we wait for legislation that so urgently needs to be passed, what a moment this is," the Abortion Rights Campaign tweeted. "And you, all of you that gave so, so much and worked so, so hard to make this happen, this moment is for you."

Back in May, when the vote took place, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar called the decision "Ireland's second chance to treat everyone equally."

"A hundred years since women got the right to vote. Today, we as a people have spoken. And we say that we trust women and we respect women and their decisions," he said. "For me it is also the day when we said 'No More'. No more doctors telling their patients there is nothing that can be done for them in their own country. No more lonely journeys across the Irish Sea. No more stigma. The veil of secrecy is lifted. No more isolation. The burden of shame is gone."
