The World’s Ugliest Dog, Zsa Zsa, was celebrated for her ugly reign just two weeks ago — but the English bulldog, with the snaggliest teeth and most barrel-y of chests, has died at only 9-years-old, according to her owners.
NPR reports that Zsa Zsa earned her crown as the world’s ugliest pup approximately two weeks ago, but her title (and the animal contest itself) was meant to celebrate the uniqueness of every dog.
Zsa Zsa’s owner Megan Brainard tells TODAY, “She’s been staying over at my dad’s house. He woke up this morning and found her passed away.” We’re ugly crying now because Zsa Zsa was a beautifully ugly pupper.
RIP. Zsa Zsa was rescued from a puppy mill and adopted into a living family. A good reminder that we should always look to pet adoption and give these sweet souls a chance at a good life.
You weren't ugly btw, Zsa Zsa... no dog is. https://t.co/Ugj2o6KftV#RIPZsaZsa— The Paw Report (@ThePawReport) July 10, 2018
It’s clear that Zsa Zsa’s adorable presence will be missed, especially by her family, who held a special ceremony for Zsa Zsa. “I picked Zsa Zsa up and took her outside and laid her down in the grass. We were all saying our goodbyes and Mareslie went right over and gave her a kiss. It was sweet. She was waving at her," Brainard shared,” Brainard expands to TODAY.
If you need us, we’ll be commemorating Zsa Zsa’s life by taking the ugliest, un-photo-genetic pics of our pets.
