The Sonoma, California based winery Chateau St. Jean created a genius version of an Escape room that lets you drink more wine every time you solve a major clue. This goes way beyond the cheesy Instagram photo at the end!
You and your gang will have the chance to break out of the 1920’s Italianate villa turned winery every Friday through Monday. The winery will then host 60 minute-long “Unlock the Chateau” for groups from six to 12. Groups will have to solve a variety of puzzle and riddles using clues and hints to “unlock the secret of the Chateau”, according to the wineries “Tasting” page.

It’s common for an escape room to be themed. I’ve played rooms that involved solving the mystery of the Greek Gods and Goddesses to escaping from Jurassic Park. The details of this “wine” themed one are pretty scarce. According to Delish, there will be classic brain teasers and there are clues hiding within love letters, maps, old photos, and wine barrels.
Tickets are $60 per person, which is pretty pricey for an escape room. However, that $60 does give you access not only to the escape room, but a glass of sparkling wine when you arrive. According to Trendhunter, each person is also given a second pour once you’ve unlocked the second room, and a full flight of booze once you’ve found your way out.
According to Bustle, Chateau wine escape room experience is part of a larger plan to bring tourism back to the area after the devastating number of California wildfires in 2017.
