Cardi B and Offset have honestly become one of the world’s biggest power couples between their public image and music success. After revealing her pregnancy in April, Cardi B’s baby seems to be the most awaited, next to Prince Harry and Meghan Markles’ pregnancy that’s still yet to be announced. As a woman who has worked her way from the streets of the Bronx to the top of the music charts, this baby will be taught the principles of both hard work and fun.
But first there has to be a baby shower to celebrate, and Cardi B wants it to be different. While she hasn’t worked most of the details, she knows it’s going to be absolutely lit. Forget about all of the cutesy games and gifts because she doesn’t like “baby showers [...] at 5 p.m. in the backyard, eating, cooking hors d'oeuvres,” according to her and Offset's Rolling Stone profile. Cardi B wants it to start at 9 p.m. like all the good parties do. If you're wondering about what has led up to the pregnancy and "lit" baby shower, here are five more things we've learned about the pair's relationship.
1. Their first date was at the 2017 Super Bowl
First dates nowadays usually take the form of going to dinner, grabbing drinks or watching a movie. They're nothing super high-key because it's just the first date—you could essentially never see this person again in your life. However, Cardi B and Offset took their first date game to the ultimate level and went to the 2017 Super Bowl. No wonder they're still together!
2. Offset proposed to Cardi B on stage during his concert
They say that those who perform together stay together, right? Offset must've taken this saying to heart because he proposed to his girlfriend during one of his concerts after only eight months of dating one another. The look on her face was priceless and definitely portrayed the love she exhibited through the tough time they had later on, when another woman came into the picture.
3. Their engagement survived Offset's affair
When a hacking scandal revealed Offset's affair with another woman, Cardi B chose to forgive him and told Cosmopolitan back in February, “But I want to work out my shit with my man [...] I’m going to take my time, and I’m going to decide on my decision…It’s not right, what he fucking did—but people don’t know what I did, ’cause I ain’t no angel.”
4. They don't do normal couple things together
While most couples do things like binge watch Netflix or cook dinner or take a walk outside together, they aren't like most couples. "We work. With a day off, we'll be in bed all day, just enjoying each other's company. It ain't about going to no movie, no dinner, nothing," Offset told Rolling Stone. "We can go eat McDonald's or Wendy's. She might want a chocolate Frosty." Apparently, they've already done "so much bizarre shit with each other" that they're much more mellow now.
5. They have mad respect and love for one another
Despite their ups and downs over the course of their engagement, the soon-to-be mom and dad have nothing but good things to say about one another. In their profile with Rolling Stone, Cardi B said, "People want to make fun of me, saying I'm the fourth baby mom," but she wouldn’t have “a baby with a shitty-ass man.” Offset confirmed her feelings and said, “We really love each other. She's real. I wanted real. I also wanted successful."
