Good morning, Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

New GOP Bill Would Prevent Separation of Children From Their Parents At the Border

The new House GOP immigration bill will include a provision that will prohibit immigrant children from being separated from their parents at the border.

According to NBC News, Rep. Jeff Dunham, one of the Republicans involved in the negotiation of the bill, said the provision will be included in the text once the bill is written. A senior GOP aide told NBC News that House Speaker Paul Ryan briefed House GOP members that the provision would be included in any immigration bill that will be considered.

Denham said that GOP leadership is committed to having the text of the bill completed by this week.

The bill would also protect the 1.8 million Dreamers that were brought to the United States illegally as children, eliminate the diversity lottery and secure $25 billion for border security.

Moderates reached a deal on Tuesday with conservatives to have two votes on the House floor later next week: one vote on the compromise immigration bill, and another on a conservative bill sponsored by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte.

“It will protect all Dreamers — those that signed up for DACA, those that did not but were eligible, as well as those that have been aged in,” Denham told reporters on Wednesday about the compromise bill.

“Our goal has been to have a permanent fix for Dreamers given the certainty that they need, address the 1.8 million Dreamers that are out there today and then also give them a pathway forward so they're not only here, protecting them, but allowing them to work and go to school and signing up for military as well,” Denham said.

Ryan said the White House is on board with the House GOP’s decision to hold a vote on immigration next week.

U.S. to Co-Host 2026 World Cup With Canada & Mexico

The United States will co-host the World Cup in 2026, after winning a joint bid with Canada and Mexico.

Delegates from FIFA, international soccer’s governing body, voted on Wednesday to select the North American bid, just one day before the 2018 World Cup kicked off in Moscow, ABC News reports.

This will be the first time that the U.S. has hosted the World Cup since 1994. The U.S. will host at least 60 games, including the quarterfinals, and Canada and Mexico will each host 10 games.

The tournament will come to 16 cities across the three countries, with three cities in both Canada and Mexico and 10 in the U.S.

The North American bid had been deemed the favorite, with the FIFA inspection commission giving the a higher evaluation report score than bid rival, Morocco, ABC News reports.

The inspection commission noted that there was significant infrastructure already in place in the three North American countries, whereas Morocco would have had to construct stadiums or renovate existing ones, as well as build large amounts of accommodations and transportation.

President Donald Trump congratulated the U.S. and its co-hosts on a successful bid on Twitter.

“The U.S. together with Mexico and Canada just got the World Cup. Congratulations — a great deal of hard work,” Trump wrote.

The successful bid, however, comes as Trump found himself in public feuds with the leaders of Canada and Mexico.

According to ABC News, Trump was in a feud with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over aluminum and steel tariffs, leading to a tension-filled G7 summit last week.

Trump accused Trudeau of making false statements and called him “dishonest” and weak” after the summit. Trudeau responded by saying Canadians would “not be pushed around.”

Warriors Invited to Capitol Hill After Not Receiving a White House Invite

The Golden State Warriors might not be getting an invitation to the White House this year, but they have received an invitation to Capitol Hill.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Barbara Lee, who both represent California, invited the players and their families to the Capitol on Tuesday, ABC News reports.

.@Warriors& @SteveKerr, you have once again dazzled America with outstanding performance on the court & inspired leadership off the court. @RepBarbaraLee & I would be delighted to welcome you to the Capitol!” Pelosi tweeted, along with the formal invitation.

President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that he did not plan on inviting either the Warriors or the Cleveland Cavaliers if they won.

“We're not going to invite either team, but we have other teams that are coming,” adding that he plans on inviting this year's National Hockey League champions, The Washington Capitals. “If they want to be here — it's the greatest place on Earth — I'm here. If they don't want to be here, I don't want them.”

After the Warriors won the championship last year, Trump rescinded his invitation to the White House when he got into a Twitter feud with Warriors star Stephen Curry.

Curry had told reporters that he would not be visiting the White House due to Trump’s comments that NFL owners should fire players that kneel during the national anthem, ABC News reports.

“Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team,” Trump tweeted at the time. “Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!”

LeBron James chimed in on Twitter, writing, “U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain't going! So therefore ain't no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!”

What to look out for…

T minus 1 day until Incredibles 2! Honestly, I'm just excited to see Edna Mode again.
