Millie Bobby Brown has left Twitter after numerous Twitter users posted memes that depicted the 14-year-old Stranger Things actress as a violent homophobe.

According toVariety, Twitter users were taking various selfies and photos of Brown and adding homophobic slurs and statements to them, as well as the hashtag #TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown.

The disgusting hashtag began circulating last year, according to Yahoo, but it gained some traction recently as Pride Month was about to start.

Memes were also created depicting Brown as Islamophobic, ableist and a number of other offensive things, Hello Giggles reports.

The reason behind the memes remains unclear, according to Variety, but some Twitter users have claimed that it originated as an inside joke for LGBT Twitter users. If you can even call this sort of thing a joke. And may we remind everyone that Brown is a 14-year-old child?

Before the meme forced Brown off of Twitter, she was just an average social media-loving teenager, posting about her day, political statements and her relationship with YouTuber and musician Jacob Sartorius, Hello Giggles reports.

But thankfully, Twitter users have come to Brown’s defense, calling out the despicable behavior of the meme creators.

Brown is just one of many celebrities to recently call it quits on social media due to harassment. According to Variety, Leslie Jones left Twitter in 2016 due to racist Twitter memes. Star Wars star Kelly Marie Tran called it quits on Instagram after fans posted racist and misogynistic messages, and her co-star Daisy Ridley deleted and deactivated her Instagram account in 2016 after receiving backlash for posting a message in support of gun control.

While Brown’s main account is now gone, her secondary, anti-bullying Twitter account, @Milliestopshate, is still active, Variety reports.
