This week's The Bachelorette certainly wasn't ~the most dramatic episode ever~ à la Chris Harrison, but one suitor did end up leaving on his own — and after receiving a group date rose, nonetheless!
One minute, Becca Kufrin was enjoying a group football date (or pretending to enjoy it, because let's be honest, it's a group football date), and the next, someone had suffered a career-threatening injury.
Yep, NFL free agent Clay Harbor hurt his wrist in a football game — on The Bachelorette.
So Clay left the show after explaining to Becca that he needed surgery (and that NFL cash). Then, when the episode aired on Monday, Clay took to Twitter to provide Bachelor Nation with both an update and an explanation.
I want to thank everyone for the love and support! Definitely the hardest decision I’ve ever made but I believe everything happens for a reason. I am working hard to get back on the field and turn this negative into a positive.

I have to thank the whole @BacheloretteABC family for an amazing experience in hindsight I don’t regret my decision to come on and would gladly give my wrist for a chance at love.

That being said the show was filmed months ago and after a tough rehab I am finally ready to play some football. I look forward to finding a team and seeing you all on NFL Sunday’s. Thanks for all thoughts and prayers!

Look, it's great that he's okay — but if he would "gladly give [his] wrist for a chance at love," then why didn't he stay on the show?!
Anyway, my thoughts are with Clay's wrist and Becca's heart.
