Good morning Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

The Trump Administration Has Imposed Tariffs on Multiple U.S. Allies

On Thursday, the Trump administration announced that it would be imposing tariffs on metals imported from multiple U.S. allies including the European Union, Canada and Mexico, which will all face 25 percent tariffs on steel and 10 percent tariffs on aluminum, the New York Times reports. The move will likely strain the U.S.'s relationships with these countries, many of which have threatened tariffs of their own on the U.S. in response. While Trump's unusually aggressive strategy is aimed at "supporting American workers," per the White House's statement on the matter, it could easily backfire if tensions are raised between the U.S. and the countries facing the tariffs — and only time will tell how this will play out in the long run.

It's the Beginning of a New Hurricane Season and Thousands in Puerto Rico Still Don't Have Power

Despite earlier claims by the Puerto Rican government that it would have the power in the country back up and running by June of 2018, BuzzFeed News reports that roughly 14,000 homes and businesses are *still* without power. Even for the majority of Puerto Rico that does have power back, according to many, the grid has been unstable, with frequent electricity outages. Many Puerto Ricans have expressed that they don't feel the infrastructure is strong enough yet to withstand another hurricane season — which begins this summer.

Samantha Bee Apologizes for Ivanka Trump Comment

After receiving backlash for calling Ivanka Trump a "feckless c*nt" in reference to a photo Trump had posted of her and her son amid reports that the government couldn't account for over 1,500 migrant children, comedian Samantha Bee has apologized for her comments, calling them "inappropriate and inexcusable." Her comment drew ire from many, especially conservative critics, who were quick to compare Bee to Roseanne Barr, whose show was cancelled by ABC after Barr tweeted a racial slur about a former member of the Obama administration.

What to look out for...

Amazing news (and yet another reason to get excited for the weekend): tomorrow, in honor of National Doughnut Day, Dunkin' Donuts is offering a free doughnut with any coffee purchase — and really, is there any better time than Saturday morning to ~treat yourself~?
