Texas and 6 Other States Are Suing the White House to End DACA

The DACA battle continues. On Tuesday, Texas, along with six other Republican-controlled states including Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, South Carolina and West Virginia, sued the Trump administration to try to end DACA, a program started by Obama that protects undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children from deportation. As you may remember, the Trump administration already opposes the executive order and has tried to end it, but courts have upheld the program in recent months. The states suing the White House argue that the Obama administration exceeded its authority through the creation of DACA, and claim that their lawsuit is separate from their immigration viewpoints.

"Our lawsuit is about the rule of law, not the wisdom of any particular immigration policy," Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement to the Huffington Post. "Texas has argued for years that the federal executive branch lacks the power to unilaterally grant unlawfully present aliens lawful presence and work authorization."

The CDC Says Tick and Mosquito Infections Are on the Rise

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention released a report saying tick and mosquito infections are on the rise and that the number of people in the U.S. diagnosed with diseases carried by mosquitos and ticks has more than tripled in recent years, the New York Times reports. With summer on the way, the CDC says its super important for anyone outdoors to be protected with bug repellant in order to be safe from scary diseases like Lyme disease and Zika. 

Facebook Is Launching an Online Dating Tool

In the midst of controversies surrounding user privacy on the site, Facebook announced Tuesday at its annual developer conference that it would be launching a dating tool. Literally just called "Facebook Dating" (creative!) the tool will allow users to set up a profile on the site that allows them to swipe for matches in a way that's similar to Tinder or Bumble. We know what you're thinking, and yes, Facebook will prevent you from dealing with the embarrassment of accidentally matching with someone you're already friends with — thank god.
