Lorde found herself in hot water on Instagram when she posted what she surely thought was a benign photo of a bathtub with the caption "And iiii will always love you." Referencing the popular Whitney Houston song got her a lot of attention, and not the good kind.

The funniest thing is how everybody is in Lorde's comment section like "SIS DELETE THIS NOO" and she's probably in her bathtub, no fucking clue what's going, having the time of her life

When Lorde finally got outta that tub and put two and two together pic.twitter.com/BigAvS4pkU

In case you didn't connect the the dots, Whitney Houston died from accidental drowning in her bathtub due to a combination of heart disease and her cocaine addiction. On top of that, her daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, also died in the bathtub. So referencing a bath and a Whitney song in the same post? It comes across pretty tone deaf.
Lorde clearly did not connect the dots when crafting the now deleted post, but upon realizing her error (and probably from the swarm of fans coming for her on social media) she issued an apology via her Instagram story.
She wrote: "Extremely extremely poorly chosen quote. I'm so sorry for offending anyone — I hadn't even put this together I was just excited to take a bath. I'm an idiot. Love Whitney forever and ever. Sorry again."
Lorde apologized, but will it be enough to face Brandy’s wrath? pic.twitter.com/uWHQ9t5Yvd

Hell hath no fury like Whitney Houston fans.
