It's been almost two months since the massacre of Stoneman Douglas in Parkland, Florida and the community is still reeling.

However, the community can find solace in the news that Anthony Borges, the last remaining victim wounded during the shooting, has finally left the hospital.

Borges was shot multiple times during the attack while shielding other students from the bullets. According to CNN, Borges had barricaded a doorway with his body in an effort to protect others from getting hurt and was shot through the door. He was lucky that a bullet just missed his liver, but had three bullets in his leg and had a third of his lung removed.

CBS News reports that Borges needed nine surgeries over the course of his hospital stay. Borges doesn't see himself as a hero, however; he just feels lucky to be alive. "I thought I was going to die," he said.

But the fight, now that he's left the hospital, is for justice. Alex Arreaza, Anthony's attorney, said that the Borges family plans to sue Broward County, Broward County Public Schools, and the Broward County Sheriff's Office over the incident.

In discussing in the intent to sue, Arreaza said, "The failure of Broward County Public Schools, and of the Principal and School Resource Officer to adequately protect students, and in particular our client, from life-threatening harm were unreasonable, callous and negligent."

Borges' quick thinking and courageousness helped other students stay alive. Whether he believes it or not, Borges was a hero on a day that his fellow students needed him.
