Gina Rodriguez is one of those celebrities I want to be best friends with. Not only is she amazing on her show Jane the Virgin, the Golden Globe winner works hard to ensure that women, specifically Latinas, are fairly represented in the film and TV industry. Her latest move towards equality is her production company's developing TV series, Femme, which focuses on feminism. I love the sound of this already!
Rodriguez's production company I Can and I Will Productions has thrived under the mission statement to "create art that tells stories from the unheard and unseen." While Rodriguez has previously signed on to produce two shows focusing on immigrant characters, Variety reports that the star will also executive produce Femme as a CW drama in association with CBS Television Studios. Rodriguez will work with writers and creators Audrey Wauchope and Rachel Spector, who have previously worked on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

The premise of Femme covers four women who meet online in a secret feminist group and decide to work together to help other women in real life. It sounds like a fun and inspirational series that is perfect for today's society. Rodriguez expressed her own excitement via Twitter once the announcement broke.
Another blessing for I CAN AND I WILL PRODUCTIONS! Even with the flu this next show puts a smile on my face! https://t.co/TmxNOXhA1U
