'Twas the week before Halloween and all through those days, not a preparation was done, not even a costume was made. Don't fret, we understand. While Halloween is plenty scary, managing your time and money around Halloween can be the real horror. Luckily, with Her Campus you don't have to spend big bucks or even devote too much time to a Halloween costume because we have five ideas you can create from something already have in your closet: leggings!
1. Superhero
Don’t be a damsel in distress when it comes to finding the right Halloween costume - suit up into your inner superhero with your favorite pair of leggings! Pair your leggings with a superhero top, mask or other props that represent your favorite crime-fighter for an easy, last-minute costume. Different colored leggings like red, blue, green, yellow and white can really complete the superhero look when you want to dress up like the Flash, Captain America or the Hulk, and black leggings are perfect if you're going for the Batman look.
2. S.W.A.T. or Police Officer
If you feel like taking charge of Halloween night, try dressing up as a S.W.A.T. or Police officer. Suit up with a pair of black leggings and a black dress shirt, then attach a badge, belt, handcuffs and some slick shades. Now you're ready to catch some criminals ~in style~.
3. Witch
Do you own a pair of striped or black leggings? Well, it’s time to put them to good use with a super spooky witch costume! Pair your leggings with a form-fitting black top, skirt or tutu, a witch hat and broom to create a bewitchingly brilliant costume. Striped leggings especially are a fabulous focal point for the costume, but feel free to get fancy with some extra jewelry and smoky makeup to elevate your look.
4. Athlete
It seems like your favorite athletes are always "sporting" a pair of tights when they play ball, so why not score some major Halloween costume cred and do the same? If you have them, white leggings are especially perfect for this costume because they look similar to the tights you see baseball and football players wearing, but really any color will do! Just pair your leggings with a sports jersey, sneakers and some black war-paint under the eyes to complete the ensemble.
5. Black Cat
One of the most classic Halloween costumes is the black cat, and it gets that much easier to create when you have a pair of black leggings on hand. Grab a form-fitting black tank or long sleeve top, cat ears and tail to create this purr-fectly cute look for Halloween! Have fun with the makeup too; draw on whiskers, a nose and (of course) your sharpest cat-eye look to tie the whole ensemble together.
