Joe Jonas is officially off the market! The DNCE lead singer announced his engagement to Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner via Instagram on Sunday. As the hearts of Jonas Brothers' fans break worldwide, it's time to take a look back on Jophie's whirlwind romance.
Joe and Sophie's love story began about a year ago, when they attended the same Halloween party in October 2016. Dating rumors began to swirl after seeing the costume-clad stars pictured together—Joe dressed as a dalmatian and Sophie as a bunny.
A month later, the rumored couple were spotted getting cozy at a Kings of Leon concert before the 2016 MTV European Music Awards. Concertgoer Anne Charlotte of Alkmaar, Netherlands, told PEOPLE, "They were really close together… The two or three times I was watching they were kissing. She was all smiley and he looked really sweet.”
Come Thanksgiving 2016, the pair were pictured together several times, though neither officially confirmed the dating rumors. Joe appeared as a guest host on LIVE with Kelly, telling his co-host that the Jonas family planned to go skiing in Mammoth for the holiday. And surprise! Sophie just happened to be in Mammoth the same weekend…
…but that's not all. The two attended a wedding together in Malibu, according to brother Nick Jonas'Instagram. And their romantic weekend together ended with an adorable photo op with a young GoT fan.
Things continued to heat up for the duo that December. As the 21-year-old actress seemed to be getting close to the Jonas fam, photos from The Daily Mail confirmed that Joe traveled to London to meet Sophie's family. A source confirmed to PEOPLE that the two were "dating exclusively," saying of the couple, "She’s always been into him, but he’s starting to like her more and more.”
In January, Sophie—finally!—showed off her new beau on Instagram.
After the debut Insta post, Jophie stayed relatively quiet about their relationship. They attended Paris Fashion Week in March…
…and then arrived to May's Met Gala together, though they chose to be photographed separately.
In the following months, the couple spent the summer in love (we assume!). They didn't offer many relationship ~deets~ to the public, aside from a few interviews from Sophie. She told InStyle that she prefers to “keep things pretty private” when it comes to Joe, but she did admit, "I found it easier to date someone who understands the industry or is in that world. You realize that you’re not going to see each other all the time."
In September, Jophie reached another couple milestone: They bought a dog! They introduced their husky pup, Porky Basquiat, on Instagram, confirming that their relationship was as serious as ever. Porky even has his own account, natch.
And, finally, the news that shocked the world (specifically anyone holding out hope to marry the JoBro heartthrob or Sansa Stark): Joe and Sophie announced their engagement after just a year of dating. In matching posts, Sophie flaunted her pear-shaped diamond ring as Joe simply revealed, "She said yes."
