Miley Cyrus released her new album, Younger Now—which includes the hit single "Malibu"—on Friday. Earlier this week, on the Howard Stern Show, Miley opened up about how her longtime on-and-off boyfriend Liam Hemsworth inspired "Malibu." Warning: This is the cutest story ever.
According to Refinery29, Miley's breakup with Liam led him to Malibu, where, by crazy coincidence, he ended up buying a house Miley had a special connection to. “When Liam—he’s my boyfriend now—broke up for a minute, he wanted to get away from me, he wanted to go to Malibu, and bought this house. He didn’t know it was the house I recorded my first album in!” Say what?!
You won’t believe what happened next. “The person [selling the house] hid all the plaques in the garage so he would still buy the house. So then he went to move in and he was like ‘Fuck, I cannot get away, this bitch is all over my fucking house!”
Apparently, it worked out well for Miley and Liam because they’re now back together and live in the house together. Talk about a crazy twist of fate. “So now that we’re back together, my song 'Malibu' is about the house that I live in, in Malibu, which is where I recorded my first album,” Cyrus told Stern.
Liam and Miley are extremely happy together at the moment but don’t have plans to get married anytime soon. Miley told The Sun last month, "I'm 24. I hope I get to live a little bit more. I have too much living to do [before I get married]."
I'm happy for them, but I'm also very excited for the heartfelt album she’ll hopefully drop when they decide to tie the knot.
