Protests during the National Anthem swept across NFL games last weekend, and while some singers have chosen to #TakeTheKnee in solidarity, Jordin Sparks took a different approach. Before Monday night's Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys game, Jordin sang the National Anthem, and though she remained standing, she made a statement in writing.

Jordin had "Prov. 31:8-9" written on her hand. The Bible verses read, "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."

Sparks was a hot topic on social media after her performance, with many fans assuming this was her way of protesting social injustice in America and President Trump's response to it. Jordin's boyfriend, Dana Isaiah, posted a picture with the singer on Instagram with the caption, "Way to use your platform babe!"

During Jordin's performance, the Cardinals and the Cowboys linked arms and took a knee.

Many other celebrities—including John Legend, Zendaya, Uzo Aduba and Lena Dunham—have showed their support for the NFL protests on their social media platforms.
