It's been three whole months since Pretty Little Liars ended, so naturally it's time to talk spinoff. Freeform announced Monday that it's developing a Pretty Little Liars spinoff starring Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish, reprising their roles as Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal.
Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists is based on PLL author Sara Shepard's book series The Perfectionists. The official description for the pilot, which has already been ordered, reads: "Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi."
In a show all about seemingly perfect lives built on lies, I can't think of a better focus than Ali and Mona. Though is a PLL spinoff titled The Perfectionists complete without Spencer Hastings? At the very least, I suppose we'll be seeing more of this:
When Pretty Little Liars ended, Mona was holding Alex and Mary Drake captive in the basement of her French doll shop while Alison was living an idyllic family life with fiancée Emily and their twin daughters. There's no word yet on how the spinoff will incorporate (or completely disregard) those endings.
