Demi Lovato Is Still Not Willing to Label Her Sexuality: 'I Don't Owe Anybody Anything'

Demi Lovato is a devoted advocate for many things: women's rights, body positivity and mental health, to name a few. The fearless singer often shares her personal struggles with the world, but some critics believe she's not open enough.

On Wednesday, Huffington Post writer Noah Michelson "called bullshit" on Demi's refusal to publicly label her sexuality. In an op-ed, Michelson posed the question, "If the pop star is willing to be so open about other parts of her life, why not this?" He argues that the star alludes to queerness in her songs and music videos, and that the "hiding" of her sexuality is problematic. The short answer to his intrusive question, in my opinion, is Demi does not have to do anything she doesn't want to do.

The "Sorry Not Sorry" singer was incredibly unapologetic in her response, tweeting, "Expectant and rude. Watch my documentary and chill out."

In a series of following tweets, Demi emphasized that she will not label herself to appease the media's curiosity. She again encouraged anybody looking for answers to watch her upcoming documentary.

The documentary she's referring to is Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, scheduled to debut on YouTube next month, Cosmopolitan reports.

As Demi's tweets suggest, being a celebrity does not automatically give the public free access into someone's personal life. Regardless of fame, Demi deserves her right to privacy and can discuss her sexuality when and how she wants to.

Sorry not sorry, Mr. Michelson.
