Remember when Selena Gomez’s collaboration with Zedd on “I Want You to Know” turned into something more? To be honest, I only remember Selena’s on-and-off mess with Justin Bieber and am aware of her current (and way more ship-worthy) relationship with The Weeknd. Sometimes stars date for a short amount of time and it’s easy to forget they were ever involved, especially if the relationship simply fizzled out without a dramatic public fight.
Zedd, a highly successful DJ, is no stranger to being in the music spotlight. However, his romantic endeavors before Selena were all very quiet. In a new interview with Billboard, the EDM producer, whose real name is Anton Zaslavski, revealed that he wasn’t ready for the whole world to scrutinize his private life. I’m sure nobody would be.
“Reporters were calling my parents. People were hacking my friends’ phones. I was pissed. [Though] I kind of knew what I was getting myself into,” he said. “She is one of the most talked about people in the world, but I had no idea how much that would change my life.”
Despite the negatives that came with Selena’s world, it seems the two ended on good terms. Selena confirmed her fondness for Zedd in an interview with New Zealand radio show The Edge Afternoons in 2015. “I adore Anton a lot and I definitely had a thing with him, which was nice,” she said.
It’s heartwarming to know that the two still respect one another two years after the fling ended. Could we see Zedd at Selena’s future wedding (to The Weeknd hopefully)? I doubt it would turn into a scene from You Again.
