We all have bad days when school, work and personal relationships heavily influence the way we feel. It's especially easy in the age of social media to get caught up in our heads and feel inadequate compared to others. It's important to remember the positive aspects of your life on those days when a single mistake feels like the end of the world. Hint: One mistake is never as horrible as it may seem. If these 15 things are so you, you're doing far better than you think you are.

1. You're discontent with some aspect of your life and won't settle for anything less than fantastic

Whether it's your performance in school or your current job, the feeling of discontentment means you're highly self-aware. You're not looking to settle, and that's the first step toward proactive change. It takes courage to fix a situation that's making you unhappy.

2. You're smart because you're unsure about a lot of things

You might be thinking, "What?" But people who seem so sure about every decision in their lives are faking it. We all know people who look like they have it together all the time, but remember that constant wondering and questioning is a sign of intelligence.

3. You struggle with feeling lost and that keeps you hungry for more

You don't pretend to have everything figured out. You know you have so much inside of you to offer to the world—more than you are currently offering. Being lost means you're willing to keep moving forward to find out what you actually want in life.

4. You have a few friends that you consider family

These people just get you. It's pretty rare to find people who understand you so deeply, so when you do, you don't let go. These friends will be with you for the long run.

5. You've made mistakes and learned from them

According to Hannah Montana, everybody makes mistakes. But if you've corrected that behavior to figure out what works and what doesn't, that's true intelligence. Anyone can make a mistake, but not everyone decides to learn from it to figure out what they want and who they want to be. Keep on mistakin' on!

6. You got rejected from something you really wanted, which led to something better

When one door closes, walk through another one. Having that first door close on you will lead you to see that the other door was probably a better choice anyway.

7. You've changed for the better

Too many people stay in their stubborn ways and don't experience growth. Go study abroad, move out or start a new routine. Constantly changing means you're evolving, which will help your life progress.

8. Some days leave you feeling really miserable, but you're strong enough to fight back

Life is not always sunshine and rainbows. It can rough you up a bit, but once you get through the bad stuff, you come out a lot stronger with the knowledge that you can and willsurvive. Having experienced the worst, you'll have the capability of bouncing back better than ever. Life will not keep you down. Strong, beautiful people are not born like that. Life has made you that way.

9. You got your heart broken, and it was a blessing in disguise

You fell for the wrong person, but you tried and put yourself out there. That's more than a lot of people can say. Even if your heart got shattered into a million pieces, you can rebuild it. The so-called failure of this love allows you to find the better love that's out there for you.

10. You have time to do something you enjoy

It might feel like you don't have meaningful activities in your life, but simply sitting on the couch and watching Netflix counts as a passion.

11. You're interested in something

Whether that's art, cars, food, stationary or Gilmore Girls. Not everyone has figured out what intrigues them. Having something interest you enough that you want to explore it keeps life exciting.

12. You know how to take care of yourself

You know what you like and don't like, who to turn to when you're feeling sad and how many hours of sleep you need to feel good. Treat yo self!

13. You have a roof over your head and a space to call your own

Whether that be a house, dorm, bedroom or even just a corner to call your own, there is power in having a space that you get to control.

14. You take responsibility for your life

Too many people feel the world owes them something and would rather play the victim than admit when they're wrong. If you're able to own up to your mistakes and move on without dwelling on the past, that's more than a lot of people can say. Life hasn't gotten any easier—you've just gotten smarter.

15. You're free because you're grateful for what you do have

You're not thinking about how much someone else has in comparison of you. Instead you're appreciating what you have right in front of you. You may not have it all, but you're thankful that you have more than just the basic necessities to survive. You have the freedom to choose what you want to do with your life. That in and of itself is pretty great.
