We're warned about teenage heartbreak, but none of us were prepared for the breakup of our five favorite heartthrobs: X Factor contestants turned boy band, One Direction. Zayn Malik was the first to depart 1D in March 2015. The rest of the group officially split in 2016. To make matters worse, Zayn and Louis Tomlinson feuded on Twitter.

It's tragic because they were such good friends. "Zayn was always good for me in the band because he was my go-to," Louis told The Sun in July. The effect of the ex-friendship is no joke since Zayn and Louis were supposedly the closest of the five.
Though I was crushed to see my fave boys cut ties, apparently Louis's mother was even sadder. Before she passed away last December, Johannah Deakin put Louis in his place. "My mum said, 'You've got to get back in contact with Zayn,'" Louis said. "'Life's too f***king short.'"
Come on, was he really left with any alternative? Louis said his mom "always knew what [he] wanted and how [he] was feeling," meaning he probably always low-key wanted to make things right with Zayn, while fans assumed they were over and questioned the meaning of life (thanks, Louis).
The singer said they've gradually rekindled their bromance. “We got back in touch with each other and kind of cleared the air and talked everything through. So we’re mates again, I suppose,” Tomlinson said on Andy Cohen Live. "Like anything like that, it takes time." Louis also said he'll always have that brotherly love for Zayn.
