Wonder Woman might just be the movie of the summer, and we can totally see why. With a fierce actress like Gal Gadot and an incredible director like Patty Jenkins, the girl power is through the roof. However, a story that was circulating earlier today suggested that although the movie has already grossed $274 million domestically and is still going strong, Gadot was no different from every other woman working in a man's world.
Many outlets, including Cosmopolitan, were originally reporting that Gal received $300,000 for her role as Wonder Woman, a vastly different sum than the reported $14 million Henry Cavill made playing Superman in Man of Steel, which grossed $290 million domestically.
Variety reported in 2014 that Gal had signed a contract with Warner Bros. that stated she would make $300,000 for each DC movie she did. This was a base amount and didn't include any possible bonuses she might make on top of that.
However, after speaking with sources close to the situation, BuzzFeed reported Gadot made "at least" as much money for Wonder Woman as Cavill made for Man of Steel. According to their source, Cavill did not make anywhere near $14 million for the Superman flick.
Although this story turned out to be inaccurate, women still have a long way to go.
