ICYMI, the Internet was freaking out earlier this week over the fact that Lorde might have a side hustle as an Instagram onion ring critic when New Zealand-based publication News Hub speculated that she was behind the account @onionringsworldwide after noticing she and her friends were among its 24 followers. As it turns out, Lorde is a much bigger fan of onion rings than anybody realized.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Jimmy Fallon asked the singer point-blank whether she ran the now-deleted account - and she confirmed that it was very much her posting photos of and rating all of the onion rings she eats as she travels.
"It's me, it's me, it's me," she told Fallon. "I sort of naively didn’t realize it would be, like, a thing that I was going to different places and trying the onion rings at each of those places."
But make no mistake, this wasn't some kind of stunt she pulled in order to look "relatable." (She's actually just that amazing in real life.) "It reads like the kind of thing a pop star would do to, like, look relatable,” she said. "I was like, this is a good pastime. It was fun for, like, five seconds."
I only have one question: why would she delete such a beautiful thing? Teasing us with reviews of one of our favorite foods and then taking them away? Cruel AF. She does say that she still has plans to keep eating them though, "because they're my favorite." Girl, same.
