Selena Gomez's 'Bad Liar' Might Be About The Weeknd (& It Might Not)

So Selena Gomez finally clarified the meaning behind her new single "Bad Liar," and it's relatable AF.

The song, which was just released about two weeks ago, tells the tale of those feelings that come with having a new crush. Many were quick to speculate that the song is about her new beau The Weeknd. However, that may or may not be the case, and the song goes much deeper than just having your crush on the brain 24/7.

When the song was first released, Justin Tranter, a co-writer on the song, said the lyrics are about "when you first start having feelings for someone, but don’t want to admit it, which turns you into a 'Bad Liar.'" Fair enough! However, that didn't stop us from wondering if this song was about a certain someone. To our surprise, however, Selena revealed in a recent interview with Power96 Miami that she's actually had "Bad Liar" for about a year. Say what?!

Gomez goes on to explain the song in detail. "Well, it kind of tells a story. It's that feeling when you're obsessed with someone, when you first initially, I always say the 'honeymoon stage,' and I'm a sucker for that feeling. It's the best feeling in the whole world. And I think that feeling, you can't get them out of your head, you're willing to want to dress differently, you want to be differently. It's not what I'm encouraging, it's more about that feeling that you can't play it cool," she said.

While this song could very much be about the "honeymoon stage"feelings in general, we can't help but think it could be hinting at her initial feelings for The Weeknd. Although she's had this song for about a year and didn't start dating The Weeknd until the beginning of this year, they did meet back in 2015 at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Hmmm.

Gomez later added that she's not the type to play it cool when it comes to her feelings, as the song suggests. "It's just what I'm feeling at this exact moment, and I don't know how to play it cool. I'm not that girl. I'm very much, 'This is who I am, this is kind of what you get.' And it's worked out for me so far! I definitely think other girls can relate to that."

Damn. You can count me in as one of those girls.
