This Explains Why 'Pretty Little Liars' Rarely Makes Sense

If anyone knows what it's like to suffer through intense cliffhangers, be shocked by constant plot twists and confused beyond utter belief, it's definitely the PLL fandom. For the past six-and-a-half seasons, we've lived through every scheme, scandal and steamy hookup involving our girls Spencer, Aria, Hanna, Emily and Alison and have noticed quite a few plot holes along the way. Although it's rare that we actually get the answers we're looking for, an oral history of Pretty Little Liars published by Cosmopolitan may finally give us an answer to why the show rarely makes any sense.

In the oral history, the cast and crew hilariously pointed out a few of the ridiculous plot lines and elements of the show that just don't make any damn sense. Costume designer Mandi Line mentioned the unrealistic daily schedules of the supposed high-schoolers along with the Liars' lack of dress code.

"They never go to class. They always have coffee dates and breakfast. I’d be like, 'Marlene, did they go to school?' 'Not yet!' 'What time is it?' '1 p.m.!' The absurdity trickles into every department. If someone said about Aria, 'That skirt is a little short,' I would say, 'She sleeps with her English teacher.'"

Speaking of Mr. Fitz, Ian Harding basically said what we're all thinking. "I love the fact that they're supposed to be like, 'We’re so exhausted; we’re being hunted and harassed, and are vaguely suspicious of the cops due to one thing that happened in the second season... so we're never going to go to them.'” Raise your hand if you're confused!

However, not everything in the world of PLL is supposed to make sense, according to production designer Jakub Durkoth. "I created a little box that hung on the wall in the art department. If you asked a logic question, you had to put a dollar in it,” Durkoth explained.

Yup, it seems as if the answer is as simple and insanely complex as that. It appears that we're meant to accept the fact that not everything in the show is going to make sense, and you should go with the flow unless you wanna pay up. Logic has no home in Rosewood!
