We all love Dove's Real Beauty campaigns, in which the brand attempts to shatter our society's rigid ideals of beauty by featuring real women of all shapes and sizes. As for Shonda Rhimes, the woman is goals, goals, goals. Not only do her award-winning TV shows leave us shook with every new episode, but Rhimes is also adamant about increasing representation, through color-blind casting, for instance. So naturally, the news that Dove and Shonda are collaborating on the brand's latest project is making us very, very happy.
Dove launched Real Beauty Productions Thursday in an effort to "give women and girls a platform to share personal stories that expand the definition of beauty." RBP is a collaborative studio that will produce several films based on the experiences of real women—like you! You are encouraged to share your unique definition of beauty at DoveRealBeauty.com. If your story is selected, you will get to work directly with Shonda Rhimes herself to make it into a video. The ultimate goal of this collab is to make women of all backgrounds, ethnicities, sizes, etc. feel represented in the media, which somehow still feature overwhelmingly white and thin women who are expected to stay quiet. This is an amazing opportunity to have your voice heard—all while working with one of TV's most amazing leading ladies!
