You might want to start using the “mute” button for more than just people you don’t want to see on your feed. Twitter just made it easy for users to mute specific words, phrases and hashtags so you don’t see them on your timeline, making it stress-free to scroll without spoiling your fave show. Thank you, Twitter.
Finally you can browse in peace without the horrifying realization that you just read a spoiler-y tweet about the How to Get Away with Murder finale. Trust me, I’ve been there and it's heartbreaking.
The time frame for which you mute is also totally up to you. Hide those Bachelor live tweets for as long as you need. One day? For the rest of eternity? The choice is yours. And the addition is not case sensitive, so all variations of a phrase will be blocked.
This function doesn't only apply to TV shows either—you can mute *any* word, phrase or hashtag.
Though this new feature will be a saving grace for Twitter junkies, muted words won't be blocked from your searches, so be careful!
