As a diehard Bachelor fan, I’ve always wondered what goes into the concert scenes—you know, when artists serenade the Bachelor and his date in front of a screaming audience. During Nick’s Wisconsin-set, one-on-one date with Danielle L. earlier this season, country singer Chris Lane found out.
He’s also a Bach superfan, so he was gracious enough to share some behind-the-scenes secrets with me.
“This was a bucket list opportunity for me. The Bachelor team put together this date and felt ‘For Her’ would fit the theme of the night perfectly,” Chris explains. Immediately following the episode’s airing on Jan. 23, “For Her” soared to the top spot on the iTunes Top Country Songs chart, so the track obviously resonated with more than just Nick and Danielle.
As for filming, Chris admits, “It was a hectic day…nerve-racking…but in a good way.”
Although the performance you see may seem like any other concert when you’re watching it from home, a lot goes into getting the swoon-worthy, romance-filled shots we’re used to. “You really have one chance to get that perfect take,” he says. “Everybody on the entire crew nailed their part, and it was a seamless night.”
According to Chris, fans would be surprised to know just how much detail and communication the concert scenes require. “Everything was planned down to the second the doors swung open, and then you kind of let the date take over at that point.”
But nothing compares to how Chris felt watching the episode. “It was one of the coolest moments of my career,” he says. “I have always been a huge fan of the show, so seeing myself on it was very surreal and I’m honored ‘For Her’ was a part of it.”
