Elizabeth Warren was silenced during a Senate debate on Tuesday for quoting a 1986 Coretta King Smith letter, in order to oppose Jeff Sessions and his nomination for U.S. Attorney General. Mitch McConnell, the Senate Majority Leader who silenced Warren, said, "She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted."
An entire movement has started from this quote, which is unsurprising—to the Internet, his words pretty much sounded like a feminist rallying cry. Plus, never understimate the power of a hashtag. Clothes, merch and memes aren't the only things to come out of this. Empowering art and illustrations have emerged all over social media, and these inspiring illustrations bring yet another reason why the future is female. Resist and persist, collegiettes!
