This past Saturday in New York City, people boarded the subway only to find that it had been vandalized with swastikas. But instead of just sitting there and leaving it be, people took action.

According to Gregory Locke, one of the men who was on the subway, he said once everyone saw what had happened, “the train was silent as everyone stared at each other, uncomfortable and unsure what to do.” But, as Locke wrote in a Facebook post, “one guy got up and said, ‘Hand sanitizer gets rid of Sharpie. We need alcohol.’ He found some tissues and got to work,” and so did many of other people. “I’ve never seen so many people simultaneously reach into their bags and pockets looking for tissues and Purel. Within about two minutes, all the Nazi symbolism was gone", he wrote.

After all of the graffiti was erased, one passenger said, “‘I guess this is Trump’s America,’" Locke wrote. “No sir, it’s not. Not tonight and not ever. Not as long as stubborn New Yorkers have anything to say about it.”

The story, which has since gone viral, even caught the attention of activist and former First Daughter, Chelsea Clinton.

If you didn't know it already, New Yorker's have to stick together and this shows just that.
