Ellen Just Used 'Finding Dory' to Explain Everything That's Wrong With Trump's Immigration Ban

ICYMI, Donald Trump just hosted the first official movie screening in the White House theater - and considering the film's plot about a family swimming the ocean in order to reunite, Finding Dory was a bit of an ironic choice following his recent immigration ban. (Which prevents real-life families from being able to do exactly that.)

Luckily for all of us, Ellen DeGeneres (who voiced Dory in the movie), caught wind of the situation, and she took to her show to clap back in the best way possible. After bringing up Trump's controversial executive order, which went into effect this weekend, she explained the political lessons POTUS could take away from the Disney movie.

"Now, of course Finding Dory is about a fish named Dory," she said. "Dory lives in Australia and these are her parents, and they live in America. And I don't know what religion they are, but her dad sounds a little Jewish. It doesn't matter. Dory arrives in America with her friends Marlin and Nemo. She ends up at the Marine Life Institute behind a large wall. They all have to get over the wall and you won't believe it, but that wall has almost no effect in keeping them out."

Yes, she went there with the whole "wall" thing. (And pretty much nailed everything that's wrong with Trump's promise to "keep immigrants out" with a wall along the U.S-Mexico border in the process.)

She continued, "Even though Dory gets into America, she ends up separated from her family, but the other animals help Dory. Animals that don't even need her. Animals that don't have anything in common with her. They help her, even though they're completely different colors. Because that's what you do when you see someone in need—you help them."

Her response was met with tons of applause from her studio audience - because seriously, if cartoon fish can be accepting of one another no matter their differences, then can't we stop fearing each other on the basis of race and religion?
