15 Signs You Still Haven't ~Really~ Gone Back to School

Winter break may officially be over, but that doesn’t mean you’re ready to be back in school. As happy as you are to be reunited with your college friends, you’re considerably less happy to be back in the academic routine. Homework, classes, mornings—you’re just not cut out for this life anymore. You’re just not ready to let go of that month of blissful relaxation—so you don’t. Here are 15 signs you still haven’t ~really~ gone back to school.

1. It’s a struggle to wake up before noon, much less to wake up in time for your 9 a.m. class.

How did you do this every day last semester?

2. You don’t bother to dress nicely because you plan on going straight back to bed as soon as class is over.

If your new classmates can’t handle you at your worst, they don’t deserve you at your best.

3. You’re pretty sure the sunlight is actually burning your skin every time you walk to class because you’re so used to lounging around indoors.

That’s normal, right?

4. Coffee has become needed every hour, otherwise you can't function.

Five cups a day keep the doctor away—or something like that.

5. You think the professor is just joking when he assigns homework.

What is this “homework” you speak of?

6. You still spend all of your free time watching Netflix like you did when you were on break.

Sure, there are probably more important things you could be doing, but Grey’s Anatomy isn’t going to finish watching itself.

7. You procrastinate on all of your readings and assignments because your new mantra is “out of sight, out of mind.”

If you forget about it long enough, maybe it will just do itself.

8. When you try to do homework, you can barely get past your name because you’re pretty sure you’ve forgotten how to write.

There's no way you're going to be able to decipher these notes later.

9. You forget to eat sometimes because there’s no one to remind you that it’s dinnertime.

Back at home, your mom would make you breakfast in the morning and call you into the dining room for dinner. At school, you’re lucky if you remember to grab a granola bar on the way out the door.

10. And when you do remember to eat, it doesn’t always go as planned.

You don’t realize how much you rely on your mom when you’re home until you go back to school and have to fend for yourself.

11. You’ve been at school for a week now and you’re still living out of your suitcase.

Maybe you could just keep living out of it so you don’t have to unpack.

12. And you’re starting to run out of clean clothes because you still haven’t done your laundry.

At home, your dirty clothes just magically reappeared in your closet.

13. Every time you try to go to sleep early, you end up staying up until 2 a.m. anyway because you can’t fall asleep.

Gone are the days when you could stay up until 2 a.m. and wake up at noon. So why does your body still insist on staying up until the crack of dawn?

14. You go out with your friends and you’re pretty much done for after a few drinks.

What happened to your alcohol tolerance?

15. You’re already counting down the days until your next break.

Spring break is just two months away, but who’s counting?
