Unfortunately, when it comes to the color, "nude," we still have one specific shade in mind, despite the fact that there are hundreds of skin tones - and shoes and lingerie in "nude," usually cover only a handful of those. Luckily, a shoe brand called Kahmune is looking to change that.
The brand offers both a heeled sandal and a pump style in a range of 10 different "nudes," while most other brands that have attempted to do something similar, like Christian Louboutin, have only stopped at half that number. Each shade of nude is named for a different city, and is displayed on the brand's website with corresponding foundation shades so customers can easily match their perfect pair. (This brand has seriously thought of everything.)
The line was founded by Ghanaian-American Jamela Acheampong, who started it out of necessity after spending hours shopping online to find "nude," clothing and accessories that would actually match her deep skin tone.
Acheampong told Elle, ""From the beginning, it's been about providing an option for all women," she said. "The idea of diversity, and more importantly, inclusivity, is still a huge problem in the beauty and fashion industries."
Kahmune's sandals and pumps will be available for pre-order starting in February, with the first pairs shipping in March - making a pair an amazing spring investment piece that solves a long-overdue issue in the fashion industry.
