Hold onto your makeup bags, because everything is about to get a lot more sparkly. Remember the Silisponge that had the beauty community polarized in 2016? Enter the Evie Blender, a new take on the crazy-popular silicone-based applicator. Created by makeup artist Angie Johnson, the Evie Blender is now being advertised on Kickstarter as "the world's first perfect beauty blender."
Johnson took inspiration from noticing what herself and fellow MUAs were doing with their beauty sponges, stating "I got so frustrated that I would use them once and then they would look stained so quickly. I’d see artists throwing them away and I thought about how much waste that created.” She goes on to explain, "I make prosthetics too and had different silicones to play with, so I thought, ‘what if I could make a textured sponge?’ I knew it would solve all the problems I was having, but the right texture and softness was essential to blend makeup perfectly." After five different designs, she came up with the "magic combo" of the perfect silicone with the shape made famous by the original Beauty Blender. Check it out in action.
Although the sponge is still in the early stages of fundraising, it has already prompted thousands of dollars in donations, which will probably make it a reality. Would you add this to your makeup collection, collegiettes?
