When it was announced that Camila Cabello was leaving Fifth Harmony to presumably go solo, many fans felt blindsided and even betrayed by the news. Things got even messier when Camila fired back at the group's claims about her departure. When Fifth Harmony responded to Camila's statement, Harmonizers had no idea who to believe. Amidst all the drama, one person who probably didn't find Camila's 5H exit to be shocking is Demi Lovato—who sort of called it years ago.
If you've been a Harmonizer from the start, then you remember Fifth Harmony's start in the music industry was a result of The X Factor. During season two of the singing competition, the girls settled on group names like LYLAS and 1432, before becoming Fifth Harmony. Considering that Demi Lovato was a judge for that season and worked closely with Fifth Harmony, it's no surprise that she basically predicted Camila's future solo career.
During an episode of The X Factor, the girls performed Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." Critiquing their performance, Demi said that she saw extreme potential for one girl in particular.
"The thing is, I know you guys have potential because I saw your performance at the judges' homes, and that's when you guys really shined," she says. "But I feel like tonight, there was only person that really shined and it really didn't click for me tonight. I want to see you guys click. I think you need more practice together. You need to come out of your shell a little bit. Right now, there's only one person doing it for me."
When asked who was the one girl that clicked, Demi played coy before finally pointing to Camila. "I think you guys should all learn something from her."
Given Demi's relationship with the girls, fans have been hoping that she can salvage what's left of Fifth Harmony. Although Demi hasn't commented on the split, I have a feeling she's probably saying "I told you" wherever she is right now.
