Christina Grimmie's Family Files Lawsuit Against the Venue Where She Was Killed

Christina Grimmie’s family is suing AEG Live, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra Plaza Foundation—which owns the venue where she was fatally shot—and the security company that worked the event.

In June, Grimmie was shot and killed by Kevin Loibl after one of her concerts. Loibl was an obsessive fan who apparently went as far as dieting and getting hair transplants and laser eye surgery to look more physically attractive when he met Grimmie. He shot himself at the scene after killing Grimmie.

Our hearts are breaking for the Grimmie family. The family is suing on the grounds of “wrongful death and negligent infliction of emotional distress,” according to Billboard

Additionally, they’d like to receive compensation for Grimmie’s projected income and reimbursement for funeral and medical expenses. The family is hoping that the case will go to trial.

We’re still saddened by the tragic loss of the talented singer. We hope that the Grimmie family receives justice and finds peace in this difficult time.
