Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who was quoted in Beyoncé's song Flawless, says that she does not believe that Beyoncé should be given credit for how well known her work has become and that the two women celebrate different versions of feminism.

Although the two women may have different views on what feminism means, Adichie did give Beyoncé permission to quote her in Flawless and acknowledges that the song did help the idea of feminism and Adichie's essay reach a wider audience, Refinery 29 says. Although she does not always agree with the way Beyoncé spreads the idea of feminism, Adichie says that she does "find it interesting" that Beyoncé is so involved in politics and spreading her message to her fans.

Adichie feels that Beyoncé's form of feminism gives too much acknowledgment to "the necessity of men." She feels that feminism should not be about relating everything back to men, but about celebrating women on their own, as independent from men. Although the two differ in this way, Bustle points out that Adichie still supports Beyoncé's choices and her message.
