Torrey Green, a former linebacker for Utah State University, was just charged in five sexual assault and rape cases from over a span of two years. Specifically, the court charged him with four counts of first degree felony rape, first degree felony aggrevated kidnapping and second degree felony forcible sexual abuse, The Salt Lake Tribune reports. In total, the Cache County Attorney's Office says they looked into nine different cases involving 22-year-old Green.

The former football player was arrested on Thursday in California. The charges against Green are the result of the victims coming forward after allegedly being attacked between November of 2013 to November of 2015. They were investigated by North Park Police and the Logan Police Department. While the sex abuse charge could place Green in prision for one to fifteen years, the other two charges of rape and kidnapping could result in a life sentence. Green will now be extradited to Utah, where his trials will be held.

Green spent time at Utah State University from 2011 through the 2016 spring semester, and in April signed a contract with NFL team the Atlanta Falcons. However, once the team found out about the accusations against him, he was waived from the team. Owner Arthur Blank told ESPN that Green was cut the morning after the team heard about the allegations, adding, "We don't want anybody connected to the organization who has those kinds of accusations around them."

In July of this year, Cache County prosecuters began to look at the cases against Green more closely. One court document, from November 2013, explained how Green raped a woman in his apartment after the two met on Tinder. After watching a movie together, Green tried to lift up the woman's shirt but she said no, but was not able to get away from Green. A second document states that in October 2014 Green assaulted another women while they were watching a movie together in his apartment, but after she said no and asked to leave multiple times he got angry and took her home.

In the three more recent 2015 cases, two women had similar stories of Green raping them in his bedroom, while one woman said she was raped in her own bedroom. All three were students of Utah State University at the time of the attacks. USU seems to have never fully investigated the attacks, and Green was never made to miss a football game during the 2015 season. Tim Vitale, spokesman for the school, said Thursday they are "waiting for more information" but "do look forward to these cases being brought to resolution." They have also started a "Consent Is" campaign, and are implementing other changes to improve the way the school responds to sexual assault allegations.
