In her new interview with Elle for the mag's October issue, Miley Cyrus is revealing a lot. The former Disney Channel star admits that although she was the lead in Hannah Montana, she wasn't paid as much as her costars.
"I mean, at one point — they'll probably kill me for saying it — I was probably the least paid person on my [Hannah Montana] cast because I didn't know any better," she said. "I was just like, 'I can be on Disney! Yeah, I want to do it!'"
Now that Miley's back on television for the first time since Hannah Montana went off the air in 2011—as one of four celeb coaches on The Voice—she wants to make sure that her mentees don't get taken advantage of, like she did, as they enter the entertainment business.
"I don't want this to come off the wrong way, but I'm going to tell my contestants: Be Bernie Sanders," she said. "Be the person people want and love. Don't worry about the masses. That's how you make a memorable moment. Let people talk about it."
Though Miley didn't specify whether or not the Hannah Montana actors who got paid more than her were male, it's safe to assume at least some of them were. No matter what, we hope Miley has found the best of both worlds in her new role on The Voice.
