Seven months after being accused of rape by a fellow student, University of North Carolina linebacker Allen Artis, 21, decided to turn himself in to authorities last week, according to CNN.

The victim, Delaney Robinson, who personally decided to release her name to the media, is a sophomore at UNC. She says that while she was drinking that night, “that doesn't give anyone the right to violate me. I did not deserve to be raped.”

The assault occurred last Valentine’s Day, when she was just 18, but according to Robinson, the case wasn’t handled fairly by UNC.

“My life has changed forever,” she told CNN, “while the person who assaulted me remains as a student and a football player on this campus.”

She argued that the University asked her ridiculous questions before ultimately deciding there was not enough evidence to charge Artis. “Did I lead him on? Have I hooked up with him before? Do I often have one-night stands? Did I even say no? What is my sexual history? How many men have I slept with? I was treated like a suspect,” she said.

After a lengthy legal battle, an arrest warrant was released for Artis last Tuesday that accused him of sexual battery and assault on a female, both of which are misdemeanors in North Carolina.

Reportedly, the warrant stated that he pinned “her down with his weight as he raped her…[and] pulling Robinson’s bra strap, ‘causing an indentation on her shoulder/back.’”

While Artis has not publicly responded to these allegations, he did turn himself in when he heard of the warrant. Acccording to WRAL.com, he was later released on a $5,000 bond.
