As a young person, we all have days when we feel pretty confident and days when we can't seem to stop the self-deprecation. Sometimes it feels as though you're in a battle against the universe and you keep losing. However, there are women who have been given a fair share of obstacles—and these incidents have only made them stronger. In a video for Jubilee Project's Fellowship, several women of varying backgrounds were asked to speak about their past experiences. The resulting video is guaranteed to inspire and motivate you.
In the video project titled "To The Girl I Once Was," the women reflected on how they felt when they were younger. Like us, these women mentioned feelings of insecurity and shyness. They also admitted to feeling unloved at times and letting others define them. As a result of the challenges that life threw at them (like losing a parent or getting into an accident), these women came to the realization that such obstacles can help you to flourish in the future.
After sharing their experiences, they offered simple yet brilliant advice to their younger selves—which we can all take into consideration in our daily encounters. In a world that constantly tries to change you, remain true to yourself and your values. Be yourself, cherish the people you love, and recognize that you're deserving and worthy of happiness.
A quote by Rumi Kaur expresses this advice perfectly: "What's the greatest lesson a woman should learn? That since day one, she's already had everything she needs within herself. It's the world that convinced her she did not."
Next time you question your capabilities, realize that you actually can conquer the world one day at a time because you already have the tools to do so.
