Liquid Lipstick Is The Most-Googled Beauty Product, Because Obviously

We are *obsessed* with our highlight and still can't get enough of the products that give us the perfect brow, but nothing beats the top trending beauty product of the moment: liquid lipstick. The Telegraph reports that it's now the top beauty product search term, pushing the ever-classic "red lipstick" down to second. If we had to guess, we'd say Kylie Jenner is to blame. With her consistently sold-out Lip Kits which have caused quite the craze over the past year, we'd be surprised if liquid lipstick wasn't the top search term.

The youngest Kardashian-Jenner isn't the only one to have released liquid lipsticks, and she certainly wasn't the first. This year alone, Nyx, YSL Beauty and Chanel (among others) have released, are releasing, or have plans to revamp their liquid lipstick offerings.

So what makes them so great? Of course, there's no saying whether liquid color is better than a traditional lipstick—it's really up to personal preference. But there are some undenial benefits to the liquid formula. The product is heavily pigmented, so all it takes is a small amount of color to build up to an opaque coat. The range of finishes is more diverse—you can get anything from glossy to metallic to matte. And perhaps more importantly, liquid lipstick traditionally lasts... and lasts, and lasts. You won't need to reapply as often as you would a regular lipstick—even after eating, drinking (or being out all night).

Ready to jump onto the liquid lipstick train? Here are some of our favorites:

1. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar, $16, occmakeup.com

Known to be the original liquid lipstick, you can't go wrong with this vegan-friendly formula. A tiny, tiny dot (no, really) of this product will leave you with an amazing coat of color that lasts allllll day. The cruelty-free line is made with all-natural ingredients, and because such a small amount of product is required for a full look, the drying effect actually isn't so bad, matte or not. Plus, you can choose from a TON of gorgeous colors, from the classic to the unconventional.

2. Butter London Lippy Liquid Lipstick, $18, butterlondon.com

Looking for a long-lasting, high-shine lip color? This pigmented formula is IT. Made with shea butter and Vitamin E, it's super, super hydrating, unlike many liquid lipsticks you'll come across. Plus, the color stays on for hours on end, which can be difficult to achieve with a glossy lip! The lipstick applies easily and evenly, and all you need is a light layer to get the look—be careful not to apply too much product, otherwise it might feel heavy on your lips!

3. Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit, $29, kyliecosmetics.com

What's a liquid lipstick roundup without Lip Kits, anyway? Kylie's products actually do live up to the hype, and her formulas have only gotten better with time. A traditional matte lipstick makes your lips feel like a desert; it's hard to create a matte finish without a drying effect. But somehow, Kylie gets it right; your lips aren't left feeling like they're about to crack. And if you prep your lips before applying, it almost feels as though you're not wearing any product at all. I like to exfoliate with a sugar scrub before rubbing a drop of Tatcha's Camellia Beauty Oil onto my lips. I'll then coat my lips with a thin layer of Vaseline before letting it sit for about 15 to 30 minutes while I finish the rest of my makeup. Once I top my lips off with the matte lip kit (Candy K is my fave!), the color and moisture will last for hours.
