The Brock Turner case has caused a national outcry and public debate over sentencing in rape trials. After only serving three months of his already lenient six month prison sentence, Turner was released from jail on Friday. In preparation of Turner’s arrival home from jail, protesters gathered in front of his parents’ house in Ohio, according to BuzzFeed News.

Some of these protesters were even armed (Ohio is an open carry state), while others held signs or wrote messages on the sidewalk with chalk. These messages were graphic, including threats: “Castrate rapists,” “If I rape Brock will I only do 3 months,” and “Shoot your local rapist.”

According to ABC News, some of the protestors went back to Turner’s house on Saturday, though it is not known where Turner himself was during that time.

According to WHIO, a local news station, there were approximately a dozen protestors who came to Turner’s house. Officers from the Sugarcreek Township Police department monitored the protest. On Friday night, local firefighters cleaned up the messages written in chalk on the sidewalk.

As part of Turner’s conviction, he must be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life. He officially registered for the first time on Tuesday morning, CNN reports.
