Since news broke that Gilmore Girls would be revived, fans have been speculating about which guy Rory will end up with—Dean, Jess or Logan. Despite confirmation that Rory will begin the reboot as a single lady, photos of the cast on set only fueled rumors that Rory will once again catch feelings for one of her former flames. Unfortunately, fans who ship Rory and Dean probably won't be entirely fulfilled by the four-part revival.
During a recent interview, Dean Forester himself, Jared Padalecki, squashed all dreams of Rory ending up with her first love. In fact, he only spent one day on set filming. "It was fun," he said. "I wanted to be a bigger part—I think they wanted me to be a bigger part of it as well. But it was shot during Supernatural, so I only did one day. But in that one day, it was a really good amount of stuff I got to do, and explained a lot."
Despite his limited time on set, Jared assured fans that Dean will have a satisfying ending. "Dean has a cool scene in the market he used to work at," he said. "It's a nice, a really nice scene that gave me closure."
Regardless of whose team you're on, Jared is confident that devoted fans will be happy with the reboot in general. But when asked whether or not we'll be pleased with Rory's love life, he responded, "There will always be some fans who are unhappy, but I think they'll be pleased with it." Uh oh. That sounds ominous.
Boyfriends aside, Jared is more than optimistic about the follow-up. "Amy [Sherman-Palladino] didn't come back to fuck it up—she came back to do it right, and she did it right."
What a relief. Now if it could hurry up and be November 25, we would really appreciate it.
