How She Got There: Laura Chica, Creative Director of Chila Bags

Name: Laura Isabella Chica
Age: 28
Job Title and Description: Creative Director
College Name/Major: Espacio Buenos Aires, Fashion Stylist
Website: www.chilabags.com
Instagram Handle:@lauraichg, @chilabags

What does your current job entail? Is there such a thing as a typical day?

LC: I’m in charge of creating all new designs for my brand: Chila Bags. My typical day is actually not so typical. Since most of our products are hand-knitted by women from different indigenous Tribes in Colombia, I often travel to all these remote places where these tribes live to meet with the waivers and exchange ideas until we are able to come to an agreement about what we actually want for our next collections. This process can actually take up to three months and it's usually really fun.

What is the best part of your job?

LC: Sharing with the women from all these tribes we work with (Wayuu, Arhuacos, Kaukamos). These women have so much love and respect for their traditions! I believe there is so much to learn from how they live, and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to work so closely with them.

What was your first entry-level job in your field and how did you get it?

LC: I was a stylist for a big fashion start-up in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I had just graduated from the University and did not have a job yet when a very good friend of mine told me they were looking for people with a passion for fashion. I applied, and to my surprise got the job (with minimal experience). Overall it was an unforgettable time because of everything I learned and the people I met. I always think of this opportunity as the place where I really fell in love with fashion.

What words of wisdom do you find most valuable?

LC: As common as it might sound, the four agreements are my everyday mantra:

  1. 1. Be impeccable with your word
  2.   2. Don’t take anything personally
  3.   3. Don’t make assumptions
  4.   4. Always do your best - Miguel Ruiz

What is one mistake you made along the way and what did you learn from it?

LC: I have made so many mistakes along the way, but have learned so much from each one of them. Honestly, I can’t think of any in particular, but looking back, I can proudly say that I don't regret anything because I strongly believe everything happens for a reason.

What has been the most surreal moment of your career thus far?

LC: Every day is pretty surreal; the thought of having Chila Bags selling and being available in many boutiques around the world is just CRAZY. But the first time I was incredibly surprised was when we received our first purchase order from The French Polonaise,  I was like, “Wait, someone really just bought a Chila Bag from my dream place, which is actually on the other side of the world? WOW!”

What do you look for when considering hiring someone?

LC: For me, it's very important to personally meet anyone who would like to join our team since I am a strong believer in people who are authentic and genuine. Anything can be learned, but that sparkle, the one that only comes with a person who thinks out of the box, is what I look for when recruiting someone to the Chila Bags team.

What advice would you give to a 20-something with similar aspirations?

LC: Dream big, don’t be afraid to start, hustle and keep dreaming even bigger.

What's the one thing that's stood out to you the most in a resume?

LC: The presentation is key, as I mentioned before, I like people who think outside the box and so when I read a typical boring resume with a picture is a no-no for me, hah! Our Sales Manager sent a digital/animated CV that was very eye-catching, and today she is one of the greatest additions to our company.

HC Wake-Up Call: Senator Says Jared Kushner 'Has to Go' if He Shaped Foreign Policy to Benefit His Family, Philando Castile Charity Pays Off the Lunch Debt for Entire School District & This Little Girl is in Love With Michelle Obama’s Official Portrait

Good morning Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

Senator Says That Jared Kushner “Has to Go” if He Shaped Foreign Policy to Benefit His Family

Sen. Chris Murphy, during an interview on Sunday on ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” said that if President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, had any part in turning United States’ foreign policy against Qatar due to dealings with his family business, he “has to go,” The Huffington Post reports.

“If it’s true, it’s damning. If it’s true, Jared Kushner has to go,” Murphy said.

According to HuffPost, The Intercept reported on Friday that representatives from Kushner Companies, including Kushner’s father, met with Qatari Finance Minister Ali Sharif Al Emadi in New York regarding potential Qatari financing for its property at 666 5th Avenue. Despite a follow-up meeting, a deal was never reached. Then, in June of last year, a group of countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, severed ties with Qatar, and many were surprised when Trump sided with them, HuffPost reports.

“We could not understand why the Trump administration was so firmly taking the Saudis’ side in this dispute between the Saudis, the Emiratis and Qatar, because the United States has very important interests in Qatar,” Murphy said. Qatar, according to HuffPost, houses a key strategic base for the U.S. military.

“To so firmly take the side of the Saudis against the Qataris that could potentially result in the downward spiral of the Qatari economy put thousands of Americans at risk,” Murphy added.

Considering the failed deal for Qatari funding for Kushner’s family-owned property, it left many concerned that Kushner could have potentially persuaded the president to side against Qatar.

“If the reason this administration put U.S. troops at risk in Qatar was to protect the Kushners’ financial interests, then that’s all the evidence you need to make some big changes in the White House,” Murphy said.

News regarding the possible deal between the Kushners and Qatar comes just after Kushner was downgraded from his top-secret security clearance at the White House to only secret, HuffPost reports.

Philando Castile Charity Pays Off the Lunch Debt for Entire School District

Philando Castile, who was fatally shot by an officer while in his own vehicle in 2016, always cared for the students that he served at J.J. Hill Montessori Magnet School. Whenever a child could not afford their school lunch, he would use pay for that student’s lunch. And, according to NBC News, a charity founded in Castile’s honor, is carrying on this tradition of helping students make sure they receive lunch.

The charity, Philando Feeds the Children, just paid off students’ lunch accounts for all 56 schools within the Saint Paul Public Schools district in Minnesota where Castile worked, NBC News reports.

“That means that no parent of the 37,000 kids who eat meals at school need worry about how to pay that overdue debt,” an update from the charity website read. “Philando is still reaching into his pocket, and helping a kid out. One by one. With your help.”

Stacey Koppen, who is Director of Nutrition Services at Saint Paul Public Schools and worked with Castile, said, “This fundraiser honoring him and his memory couldn't be more perfect. This is what he did. He did so without question or praise.”

According to NBC News, the charity started out as a college class project by Metropolitan State University students, and has raised $130,000 to help feed the children in St. Paul.

Now that Philando Feeds the Children has paid off all the lunch debt for students in the school district, the remainder of the money will be used to help more students in the future.

This Little Girl is in Love With Michelle Obama’s Official Portrait & Thinks She’s a Queen

Adorable two-year-old Parker Curry got to see former First Lady Michelle Obama’s official portrait and was in awestruck, CNN reports.

“Parker was in front on the portrait, and I really wanted her to turn around so I could get a picture with her, and she genuinely, honestly would not turn around,” Parker’s mother, Jessica Curry told CNN. “She was uncooperative with me because she was just so focused on the portrait and studying it, and she was just so fascinated.”

The photo of Parker staring in awe at Mrs. Obama was captured by Ben Hines, who was visiting the National Portrait Gallery with his mother, CNN reports. When he posted the photo to his social media account, it quickly went viral, and it’s easy to see why.

Amy Sherald, who painted Mrs. Obama’s official portrait, shared the picture on her Instagram account, and the former First Lady saw the photo and responded just as we all would have: with three heart-eye emojis.

“In further discussion with [Parker] yesterday and today, I realized that she believes Michelle Obama is a queen, and she wants to be a queen as well ...," Curry said. “As a female and as a girl of color, It's really important that I show her people who look like her that are doing amazing things and are making history so that she knows she can do it.”

At the unveiling of the official portrait, Mrs. Obama said, “[Girls and girls of color] will see an image of someone who looks like them hanging on the walls of this great American institution. ... And I know the kind of impact that will have on their lives because I was one of those girls,” CNN reports.

Parker is just too adorable, and we know that she is going to be a total queen when she grows up, just like Mrs. Obama.

What to look out for…

Did you see what was in the unofficial Oscars swag bags for the top nominees? It's insane, and I want one.

Khloé Kardashian Is Having A Baby Girl & We’re Just As Shocked As She Is

After Khloé Kardashian finally announced her pregnancy back in December, everyone and their cat has been thoroughly vetting Khloé's Instagram feed in search of any minuscule hints on whether she’s having a baby boy or girl—but thankfully the tireless Insta-snooping wait is over. On last night's episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, a slightly shocked Khloé revealed that she’s having a baby girl.

Shortly after Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner welcomed their daughters Chicago and Stormi (respectively) into the world, Khloé blessed us with the news that she, too, is expecting a baby girl, and not a baby boy like we previously thought. Well, technically Kylie blessed us with this announcement.

What’s meant to be will always find its way

A post shared by Khloé (@khloekardashian) on

According to Marie Claire, Kylie was the first to figure out the news, because Khloé wanted her OBGYN to tell Kylie the gender. This way, the whole fam could get involved in the gender reveal. (Plus, Khloé would’ve had an option to keep the gender a surprise.)

However, we aren’t the only ones who were shocked by this gender reveal—Khloé herself was in complete disbelief. E! News reports that Khloé said, “I don't feel like I'm having a girl at all. I'm like in a state of shock.” You and me both, Khloé.

After confirming her baby’s gender, Khloé gleefully tweeted out, “I am now so excited my daughter will have forever best friends with Chicago and Stormi!! God is great!!! Thank you Lord for our princess.” (BRB, my eyes are leaking.)

Regardless of the gender of Khloé’s baby, we can’t wait for her and Tristan Thompson to welcome their baby into the growing KarJenner klan, especially since Khloé has wanted to become a mom for ages now. As a source tells PEOPLE, “This is something Khloé has wanted for years and years and yet it’s more than that: she didn’t want it unless she was in the right relationship for it. She never let it happen with Lamar, intentionally, and she never considered it with James or French or anyone else she has seen.

But this is such a wonderful moment for her: not only is she going to be a mother, she is going to be raising a child with a man she truly loves. Everyone is over the moon for them both.”

Congrats Khloé and Tristan!

Lupita Nyong’o & Kumail Nanjiani Sent a Powerful Message To DREAMers At The Oscars Last Night

The 2018 Oscars present us with much more than just accolades and award-winning actors. Beyond the hot dog slinging and movie-crashing shenanigans, this year’s Oscars gave activists a platform to talk about causes like #MeToo and gun reform. Shortly after host Jimmy Kimmel delivered his powerful monologue, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar-winning best supporting actress, and Kumail Nanjiani, who was nominated for best original screenplay, utilized their time on stage to deliver a compelling message to, for and about DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients known as DREAMers.

After Nyong’o’s initial humorous intro—“We are the two actors you keep hearing about but whose names you keep having trouble pronouncing”—the duo quickly divulged into advocating for DREAMers. However, it’s no surprise that Nyong’o and Nanjiani are such strong proponents for DREAMers. As the two stars explained in their monologue, Nyong’o was born in Mexico and grew up in Kenya, and Nanjiani grew up in Pakistan and moved to Iowa.

CNN explains that Nyong’o said, “Like everyone in this room and everyone watching at home, we are dreamers. We grew up dreaming of one day working in the movies. Dreams are the foundation of Hollywood, and dreams are the foundation of America.” After all, without immigrants like Nyong’o and Nanjiani, we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to see masterpieces like The Big Sick or 12 Years a Slave.

According to The New York Times, before presenting the nominees for achievement in production design, Nanjiani concluded the speech with, “To all the DREAMers out there, we stand with you.”

As the Huffington Post reveals, Nyong’o’s and Nanjiani’s inspiring speech comes amidst the current political fight over DACA. While DACA permits were supposed to expire today and the status of thousands of DREAMers is still uncertain, one thing is certain: Nyong’o and Nanjiani’s speech will continue to empower other immigrants to pursue their dreams.

5 Things Your Gynecologist Wishes You Knew

$

Going to visit the gynecologist regularly is an extremely important part of every woman’s life. It’s also understandably a little terrifying because of how personal an appointment can be. Still, that shouldn’t deter you from making an appointment, because gynecologists ultimately care about your health and will be an essential source of information regarding periods, contraception, sexuality and diseases relating to your reproductive organs. Later on in life, they will also be there to answer your questions about menopause, infertility and prenatal care.

We talked to Dr. Julie Chor, an obstetrician/gynecologist and assistant professor at the University of Chicago. She specializes in adolescent gynecology, family planning and delivering babies. Dr. Chor provided several essential things you need to know about gynecology. So what are you waiting for? Find out what your gynecologist wants you to know about everything down there.

1. Visiting the gynecologist does not equal getting a pelvic exam

A pelvic exam is pretty much exactly what you picture when you think of visiting the gynecologist. The doctor will ask you to lay back and put your feet into stirrups, and then insert a speculum into you, which is used to check the inside of the vagina and cervix. It may sound intimidating, but remember it’s not all a gynecologist does. As Dr. Chor says, “This exam can be important, but is not necessary in every encounter with a gynecologist!”

2. You should start getting pap smears once you hit 21

The pap smear is a test that is used to check for cervical cancer. Your gynecologist will again use the speculum to see the interior of your vagina and cervix, and then gently scrape the opening of the cervix to collect cells that will later be examined under a microscope. According to the National Library of Medicine, you will need to avoid having sex and using tampons or douches at least 24 hours before the test. Be sure to schedule your appointment around your period too, as bleeding might lessen the accuracy of the results.

As Dr. Chor explains, “This important [pap] test screens for abnormalities of the cervix that can progress to cervical cancer, but this testing is not started until 21 years of age. In fact, unless a woman has an abnormality on her pap smear, pap smears are only performed every 3 years between the ages of 21 and 30.” Remember, while both are common procedures, a pap smear is not the same as a pelvic exam. “Many women mistake a pelvic exam (which can include a speculum exam and/or an internal bimanual exam) with a pap smear. Not every pelvic exam includes a pap smear,” Dr. Chor says.

In addition, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that young women see a gynecologist starting between age 13 and 15 - not for internal pelvic exams but for an external examination.

Related: 8 Questions You’re Too Embarrassed to Ask Your Gyno

3. You really should visit the gynecologist every year

It is recommended that you see a gynecologist at least once a year. “While pap smears are normally performed every three years, it is recommended to check Gonorrhea and Chlamydia yearly in this age group and to check in regarding other important reproductive health issues,” Dr. Chor says. Even if you feel completely healthy or are not sexually active, there are a ton of reproductive health issues that the gynecologist will check for. “Such issues include menstrual cycles, contraceptive needs, sexually transmitted infections, pelvic pain, the list goes on.”

You should also remember to get STI (sexually transmitted infection) screenings, which are not a part of the annual gynecological check-up. Most importantly, growing a strong relationship with your gynecologist means that you will understand and learn how to take care of your body early on.

4. Birth control can do more for you than prevent pregnancies

Although its name suggests a one-track purpose, birth control actually has a lot of uses. “There currently is a wide spectrum of birth control options out their [there] - ranging from pills to Depo-provera (aka “the shot”) to several different intrauterine devices and the contraceptive implant,” Dr. Chor says.

“While these options are most commonly used to help prevent pregnancy, they are also used to help with a host of other reproductive health issues,” Dr. Chor continues. “These other issues include irregular periods, heavy periods, menstrual cramps and acne.” Before you decide to take birth control, consult with your gynecologist to see which type of medication fits your needs the best, whether it’s through a pill, a shot, with short-term or long-term effects. If you’re a beginner to this whole birth control thing, first check out this handy guide to The Pill.

5. Get HPV-vaccinated!

HPV, or the Human Papillomavirus, is a viral infection that causes genital warts or cancer in the cervix, vulva, and in other reproductive organs. There are over a hundred types of HPV, and many do not cause problems. HPV infections usually clear up without any intervention within a few months after acquisition, and about 90 percent clear within two years. A small proportion of infections with certain types of HPV can persist and progress to cancer. Since it is spread through oral, vaginal and anal intercourse, it is extremely important for women who have engaged in penetrative sex to get vaccinated. Dr. Chor says that the recommended age for receiving the vaccine is 9-26 years old, so collegiettes who haven’t received the vaccine yet should set up an appointment as soon as possible. Ideally, women should get the vaccine before they become sexually active, so the sooner the better. If you are sexually active and you have not yet taken the vaccine, it’s possible that the vaccine will be less effective because you may have been exposed to one or more types of HPV that the vaccine is designed to target.

In addition, the HPV vaccine, unlike some other vaccines you may have taken as a child, comes in a series of three doses that must be given over a course of six months. The second dose must be administered one to two months after the first does, and the third must be given six months after the first dose. There are actually two HPV vaccines that protect different types of HPV. The bivalent HPV vaccine prevents HPV 16 and HPV 18, which cause 70% of cervical cancers. Meanwhile, the quadrivalent vaccine prevents not only HPV 16 and 18, but also HPV 6 and 11, which cause 90 percent of genital warts.

Keep in mind that getting HPV vaccines does not mean you should forego cervical cancer screenings. Ultimately, it's important to consult with your gyno to see which treatments you are recommended to receive.

As you can see, gynecologists are an essential resource when it comes to understanding your body. While this article provides a snippet of the information gynecologists have for us collegiettes, it’s best to set up an appointment with your gynecologist to get the full scoop!

7 Cringe-Worthy Moments From Arie’s Season on ‘The Bachelor’

*In my best Chris Harrison impersonation* Ladies, it’s the final rose.

Tonight marks the end of Arie’s era on The Bachelor with the long-awaited season finale premiering in two parts. After Caroline said some pretty heart-stopping things on “The Women Tell All” episode last week, the internet has been in a frenzy about the supposedly shocking outcome of Arie’s time on The Bachelor. In anticipation for tonight’s episode, let's take a walk down memory lane and remember some of the cringiest moments from this season, shall we?

1. When Tia meets Arie for the first time and makes a pun about his penis

I loved Tia’s honest and down-to-earth personality, but I definitely won’t be using her pickup line or the tiny rubber weiner she paired with it. (Where do you even get a fun-sized one, Oriental Trading??)

2. When Arie awkwardly comforts Annaliese after she relives her traumatic bumper car experience

I know we all got scared of silly things as kids (*clears throat* oven timers), but we’re eventually supposed to grow out of those fears, right? I’m surprised Arie didn’t start cracking up while a grown woman sobbed about being bumped in bumper cars.

3. When Arie licked a bowling ball like it was soft-serve ice cream

Umm…didn’t his parents teach him basic hygiene? I know he said he barely got through high school, but health class isn’t all that complicated. I’m cringing just thinking about his kissing other girls after that date.

4. When Jenna almost drank a cup full of urine on a group date

If she’s willing to endure such an acidic taste for Arie’s attention, I’m pretty sure this girl can survive on Naked and Afraid, if it meant a proposal at the end. I just can’t imagine what was going through Arie’s head as she went to take a sip.

5. When Arie refused to kiss Annaliese after she worked up the courage to ask him

It’s one thing to get rejected by a guy who doesn’t like you, but Arie’s decision not to give Annaliese even a peck just makes me want to slap him dramatically across the face.

6. When Lauren B. and Marikh’s wrestling match started getting steamy

I wasn’t sure what to think about it then. I’m still not sure what to think about it now. The whole date was kind of strange, and these ladies got into character a little too well for my taste.

7. When Arie and Krystal reunited on “The Women Tell All”

You could cut the cold tension between these two former lovebirds with a knife. Despite their past chemistry, I almost got the sense that Arie felt repulsed by Krystal when she spoke about her unexpected freakout at the bowling date.

Drop Everything! Beyonce & JAY-Z May Be Going on Tour Together Again

Start saving, because it looks like the royal couple of the music industry might be going on tour!

On Monday, Ticketmaster and Beyoncé's Facebook announced that she and JAY-Z would be co-headlining an "On The Run 2" tour this summer. But before the Beyhive could get more details, both websites took down the announcements which left everyone confused.

According to Complex, the Facebook post was taken down within minutes. However, fans were quick to capture screen grabs of the listing, which stated that the first concert would kick off on Monday, July 30 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA.

Pre-sale tickets for "On the Run 2" would supposedly go on sale on Ticketmaster.com at 10 a.m. ET tomorrow, according to screen shots of the temporary announcement, but since the posts were taken down, there is no official word as to when the tickets will go on sale—or if there's even an actual tour. (Oh the agony!)

The supposed shows would be a follow-up to JAY-Z and Beyoncé's 2013 "On the Run" tour, titled after a song on JAY-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail album. JAY-Z also previously confirmed a collab album with Beyoncé exists late last year in an interview with The New York Times.

The husband-and-wife power duo have yet to comment about the mishap, but one thing's for sure—I'm going to need to get my pockets ready!

Tiffany Haddish's Multi-Wear Oscar's Dress Is The One Dress To Rule Them All

$

With the paparazzi sprawling over red carpets and fashion critics tearing apart every fashion decision a celebrity makes, it’s no wonder that there’s so much stress celebrities are under to have the perfect look.

Tiffany Haddish, however, is breaking the unspoken rule every celebrity stylist has for their clients. She re-wore a dress that she had already worn twice. This anomaly of Hollywood fashion proves that Haddish thinks like pretty much the rest of us non red carpet-goers. If you spend lots of money on a dress and that dress is really cute, hell yeah you’re going to wear it more than once!

The white Alexander McQueen gown first made its debut on the red carpet for her movie Girls Trip and appeared a second time during her monologue for SNL. She made a point to say her team definitely told her not to re-wear the dress to which she responded that she will get buried in her Alexander McQueen dress.

Haddish states “I should be able to wear what I want. when I want, however many times I want, as long as I Febreezed it.”

This might be the most realistic fashion advice any celebrity has given, because if we ever spend $4,000 on a dress it would definitely be worn to every event.

Haddish iconically re-wore the gown when presenting an Oscar with Maya Rudolph, even though she did show off a beautiful authentic Eritrean princess dress on the red carpet. We can all learn something from Haddish breaking fashion boundaries: If you spend good money on something—or if even if you just really like an outfit —you should be able to wear it every day.

A Florida Public School Just Found Out That One Of Their Teachers Secretly Hosted A White Nationalist Podcast

On Friday, March 2, the Citrus Country School District in Florida was informed that one of their middle school teachers has been hosting a white nationalist podcast under a pseudonym. Dayanna Volitich, 25, had been hosting the podcast “Unapologetic” under the name “Tiana Dalichov,"HuffPost reports, while also maintaining an active white supremacist presence on Twitter.

Since discovering their faculty member’s secret double life, the district has removed Volitich from the classroom. Per an official statement released by the district’s superintendent, Sandra Himmel, “The Human Resources department was notified and an investigation was initiated immediately.”

In the podcast, Volitich praised white nationalism, denounces diversity and encourages other white nationalists to bring their beliefs into schools. On February 26, Volitich’s guest on the podcast explicitly stated that white nationalists should enter the public school system and share their views with children – and Volitich agreed.

“They don’t have to be vocal about their views, but get in there,” said the guest. “Be more covert and just start taking over those places.”

“I’m absolutely one of them,”  replied Volitich.

The profile photo comparison of "Tiana Dalichov" (left) and Dayanna Volitich (right), from HuffPost.

And Volitich’s white nationalist views don’t just stop with the podcast. Under her pseudonym, Volitich released many more hate-charged statements via Twitter during her time hosting the podcast, praising other white nationalists and hate groups in the process.

According to Volitich, her students knew of her white nationalist beliefs through her lessons and descriptions of current events. According to HuffPost, Volitich taught in a predominantly white school district. As the investigation continues, similarities between Volitich and Dalichov are hard to miss. Social media profile pictures are the same, ages are the same, and clues left in the podcast (like the year she started teaching), also made it almost impossible to miss the connection.

The school is still looking into the case. Meanwhile Scott Hebert, executive director of educational services for the Citrus County School District, reaffirmed that Volitich’s views are not in line with those of the school district.

“She does not speak on behalf of the Citrus County School District,” Hebert said. “The views she’s listed are really not in line with how our district operates.”

This Video Of A 13-Year-Old Kate Middleton Being Told She'll Marry A Man Named William Has Me Shook

In one of the most bizarre (but sweetest!) stories to come from the royal family, it seems that Kate Middleton was foretold that she would one day marry a man named William!

A video unearthed by People shows the now Duchess of Cambridge way back in the day as a 13-year-old at St. Andrew's Preparatory School acting in a play where she's in conversation with a fortune teller.

The fortune teller explains that she will soon find a handsome, rich man who will fall in love with her and take her away all the way to London, and then he will marry her. Later on, when her character meets this foretold suitor and he asks her to marry him, she screams, "Yes! Yes, dear William!"

*insert heart eyes*

It's funny how the things some people do as children come full circle whether intentionally or not. Kate was foretold in a play that she would marry a handsome, rich man named William. She later met Prince William at university and the two went on to marry in 2011 and are now expecting their third child together. Meghan Markle said she wanted to be a princess when she grew up (though it had nothing to do with the royal family at the time), and now we wait with baited breath for May 19th when she and Prince Harry will walk down the aisle at Windsor Castle making her a princess.

Talk about dreams coming true!

Zendaya's Marc Jacobs' Zoot Suit Served Serious Shoulder Pads & Snatching Our Attention

After seeing all the awesome fashion statements our girl Zendaya’s been making, we’re learning that anything on the chicest fashion runways will be in her wardrobe for sure. And no one else can rock these runway statements like she can.

Last week, Zendaya added yet another unique outfit to her style repertoire when she strolled into the Vanity Fair Women in Hollywood party in a colorblock Marc Jacobs suit. Zendaya snatched party-goers’ eyes in a loose fit, multicolored Marc Jacobs zoot suit, complete with a sleek top hat, bright orange pointed-toe heels and a bronzy two-toned eye makeup look.

Zendaya’s Marc Jacobs suit was surely one of a kind, with its 80’s-inspired wide shoulder pads and colorblock-ed arm sleeves, pant legs and torso panels. The pants had a different hue on each leg, with one leg being purple and the other brown, while the jacket was made up of a multitude of colors. Big round black buttons fastened the whole ensemble together, along with a mysterious black collar. The black accents along with the range of muted cool colors made the suit a fashion marvel, but we owe it to Zendaya for making this Spring 2018 runway outfit look even cooler.

And of course, Queen Zendaya took to Twitter to let it be known how much she was feeling herself in this outfit:

The internet, however, had some split opinions about the ensemble, with some thinking she was channeling funny-looking characters while others believe she was slaying flawlessly:

While some may not have been fans of this particular outfit, Zendaya still deserves props for taking fashion risks all the time and staying true to her own tastes. Wonderful style icons like Zendaya don't just dress to impress but to truly express themselves — and this outfit was as expressive and colorful as her personality.

We don't expect this to be the last mind-blowing outfit she'll sport; she will continue to shake up the fashion game one statement at a time.

President Trump Made Comments About The U.S. Ditching Term Limits To Have 'A President For Life'& The Internet Freaked Out

President Xi Jingping of China is in the process of changing the Chinese constitution, CNN reports, to eliminate presidential term limits, which would leave him able to remain in the presidency indefinitely.

Currently, President Xi is scheduled to end his term in 2023. On Sunday, the Chinese Communist Party suggested a party vote which would end term limits, giving Xi long-term power over their economy and military. While many people are shocked at Xi’s power move, there is one man who thinks highly of it. During a fundraising lunch at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday, President Trump said he’d like to give endless term limits a try too, according to Vox.

“He’s now president for life. President for life. No, he’s great,” said Trump in a recording obtained by CNN. "And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great. Maybe we'll have to give that a shot someday."

The comment was intended to be a joke, but the Internet took the president seriously, with Twitter exploding over the news:

The outrage isn’t surprising, as Xi isn’t the only authoritarian type has praised in recent years. Trump is also a huge fan of President Vladimir Putin of Russia and Turkish President Recap Tayyip Erdogan.

After a week of incendiary tweets against people like former opponent Hillary Clinton and former President George W. Bush, Trump’s had quite the week of press. In reference to Xi, Trump claims they have a “very good relationship,” with Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders telling the press that Trump supports Xi’s decision.

The official position of the White House is a little more neutral, saying it’s “a decision for China to make about what’s best for their country."

Emma Watson Showed Off A Time's Up Tattoo At Vanity Fair's Oscars Afterparty But There Was a Slight Error

While some celebrities wore black and white pins to demonstrate their support for the Time’s Up movement at the Oscars, Emma Watson rocked a large temporary tattoo that read “Times [sic] Up” in black cursive ink on her right forearm at the Vanity Fair party after the Academy Awards on Sunday.

Unfortunately, the temporary tat was missing an apostrophe, "Time's Up," though the trending hashtag itself lacks the mark: #TimesUp.

The Time’s Up initiative was started earlier this year and its purpose is to raise awareness of sexual assault, harassment and inequality in the workplace—and put a stop to it. Despite the typo, Watson's efforts are very admirable. According to E!, last month Watson donated $1.4 million to the Justice and Equality Fund—an initiative fighting against sexual harassment, assault and discrimination.

Watson has always been a vocal supporter of the movement: "There is no question that #TIMESUP should be and will be a global movement. A movement that is defined and led by those affected by the problem, not by those in power" the actress stated on Instagram.

Even if other news outlets are emphasizing the tattoo's typo, it's important to look beneath the surface and realize what really matters is that Watson made the effort to spread the Time's Up initiative—and with that, I applaud her.

All the Tweets That Perfectly Describe Our Feelings About the Emotional Rollercoaster That Was That 'Bachelor' Finale

ICYMI, tonight's finale of season 22 of The Bachelor basically lived up to the emotional roller coaster hype that Chris Harrison told us it would be — and as usual #BachelorNation had some ~thoughts~. Read on for the Internet's best reactions to the insane end of Arie's season.

Things got off to a business-as-usual start as Lauren met Arie's family — which is to say that she basically repeated the same things over and over again in a monotone voice.

When Arie's family would not stop asking Becca about Lauren:

Of course, it wouldn't have been Lauren and Arie's final date if they didn't just spend the whole thing talking about the ~connection~ between them that absolutely nobody else sees and repeating what the other just said...

...Which this time included Arie's signature line. (Which, on the bright side, we never have to hear again after tonight!)

The alpacas/llamas, however, offered a welcome break from the snoozefest that was the first half of the episode. And TBH, who needs a boy when you have a baby llama?

Oh, and in case he didn't already make it clear by repeating it exactly 734 times, don't forget that Arie fell in love with *two* women, and was conflicted about who to choose until three hours before the proposal. Yeah, safe to say no one should be getting engaged at this point.

Alas, Arie went through with the whole thing and said goodbye to Lauren (for now), all while, for some reason, standing there and allowing her to keep professing her love for him instead of just breaking the news — and the Internet didn't hesitate to roast him for it:

When Arie did finally propose to Becca, #BachelorNation was already clued in enough to what was going on to know that rose breaking off was definitely a bad omen.

And then there was the cringe-worthiness of Arie getting ready to break off his engagement to Becca, all while she has absolutely no idea:

And the Internet probably hasn’t ever gone from being so endlessly bored by someone to absolutely hating them so fast.

No word yet on whether Arie follows through on getting Lauren back — but if we had to guess, we're thinking that *drama* will continue on tomorrow night's "After the Final Rose" episode. Meanwhile, this tweet basically sums up everything you need to know about tonight's mess:

How to Have Your Healthiest Spring Break Ever

Spring break and moderation tend to be like Kim Kardashian and low-key: mutually exclusive. Between the club scene, the drinks, the endless waves of attractive people, the drinks, the real waves on the beach, the drinks, the copious amounts of sun, the drinks, the bad-for-you foods and, oh, the drinks, it’s easy to have a fantastic time during spring break—but hard to end it without feeling like your body needs a lifetime of detoxing to get over it all.

After one too many "I need a vacation to recover from vacation" experiences, we’ve learned how to have an awesome time without the awful side effects. Read on to discover our top tips and tricks for having a healthy spring break.

1. Don’t try to lose weight “for spring break”

In the weeks leading up to vacation, the gym is usually full of collegiettes trying to lose weight before they head to Cancun or Miami Beach. We’re big fans of exercise and wanting to look and feel your best—but setting out to drop a couple pounds too quickly for one trip isn’t healthy.

"College women might have expectations of a certain size or swimsuit they want to fit into before they go on break," says Malia Mattox, a nutritionist and wellness coach. "But they can put unrealistic goals into play and set themselves up for disappointment," she says. "When losing weight, you want to focus on overall healthy patterns, not just how you look in a bikini."

You don’t want to have visions of a perfectly flat stomach or toned arms dancing in your head before break, only to be inevitably disappointed when you don’t achieve your "ideal body" in time. Instead, Mattox says you should focus on building confidence and self-love at your current weight. Focus on the attributes you’re super proud of, whether they’re physical or mental.

Plus, if you’re working out extra hard or restricting your diet before break, it will be even harder not to overindulge once you get there. You might think, "What the heck, I’ve earned this," to that chocolate lava cake… and that strawberry daiquiri… and that late-night pizza run… you get the picture.

Rather than going from "fasting to feasting," Mattox recommends establishing permanent lifestyle changes, like staying active and indulging in moderation, that will have your body naturally settling at a healthy weight.

2. Drink lots of water

Okay, so you’ve heard this nugget of wisdom before. But according to Mattox, remembering to drink water is extra important on vacation, because we’re distracted by the new place, friends and activities.

When your body’s running low on water, you get grumpy, tired and headache-y—not exactly the best ingredients for a day sightseeing with friends or dancing at the club. That’s why Mattox recommends always keeping water with you. "Make your water bottle just as important as your phone," she says. "Some of my clients will leave it right by the door so they can grab it on their way out."

She says you can also use digital reminders. For example, set an alarm on your phone for lunchtime asking if you’ve drank 32 ounces (or four cups) of water. Mattox says you should be consuming around 64 ounces of water a day. "If you’re behind at lunch, you can figure out, 'Okay, how am I going to get those 64 ounces in by the end of the day?'" she says.

Alcohol is dehydrating, so should you drink more agua with your alcohol? Mattox says yes! She suggests having one glass of water in between every serving of alcohol—you could have one glass of wine, and then sip some seltzer, then another glass of wine, another glass of seltzer, and so on. Not only will this help you pace yourself when you’re drinking, but it will help you avoid a hangover the next day!

3. Make sure your food intake is balanced

It’s easy to go crazy on spring break. Not only are you with your friends 24/7—which can encourage you to eat more—but you’re surrounded by delicious food. Mattox says there are two aspects to keep in mind: sodium and calories.

What do salty fries, loaded nachos and stuffed quesadillas all have in common? Yup, they’re worth drooling over… and they’ve all got super high sodium contents. Sodium makes us bloat and causes the body to retain fluid. No one likes feeling like a too-full water balloon, so Mattox shares her tips on avoiding sodium while in a foreign land. "Sodium is a preservative, so it’s usually really high in restaurant food, because their food sits around longer," she says. "Instead [of chains], go to local restaurants, where it’s more likely they’ll have fresh food and unprocessed ingredients."

Since your normal eating patterns will be thrown off, it’s also likely you’ll be taking in more calories than usual. Going to local restaurants won’t just help you avoid excess salt—it’ll also help you make healthy choices. Mattox says you should look for whole foods (in other words, foods that are pretty close to how they appear in nature). For example, grilled fish with veggies and brown rice on the side would be an easy, delicious lunch or dinner you could get almost anywhere in the world. "You can also go to a grocery store—either before or after you arrive—and stock up on healthy snacks," Mattox suggests. "I love raw nuts, veggies like snap peas and carrots, string cheese, Greek yogurt, dried fruit and fresh fruit that’s not as perishable, like apples and bananas."

However, watching what you eat doesn’t mean you can’t indulge. If you’re in Spain and you’re craving some flan—go for it! If the majority of your choices are good for your body, the rest of them can be good for your soul.

4. Stay moving

No, you do not have to wake up at the crack of dawn to go for a run on the beach. It’s surprisingly easy to incorporate exercise into your vacation, and you’ll feel much more energized as a result. Plus, some cardio will help you balance out that flan and those margaritas while making unique memories.

"I encourage people to think of the world as a fun playground for exercise," Mattox says. "There are opportunities all around. If you have a chair, you can be doing triceps or bench steps. If you have a wall, do floor or wall push-ups."

Mattox also suggests creating a travel circuit ahead of time that’ll be easy to do in a small hotel room or shared house—check out HC’s fave travel workouts! If you’re staying in a hotel and it has a gym, that’s a convenient way to get your heartbeat up as well.

If you’d rather incorporate exercise naturally into your day, suggest activities that involve movement. "Go for a walk on the beach, or do yoga, or hike, or kayak, or surf, or bike or take a local dance class," Mattox says. "There are so many fun activities!"

She says dancing at the club definitely counts as exercise—so when you and your friends arrive, make a beeline to the dance floor and shake it, shake it like you’re supposed to do.

Mattox advises you not to concentrate on how many hours of exercise you’re getting. After all, you won’t enjoy your vacation if you’re constantly tallying up how many hours of cardio you’ve logged. Instead, just focus on staying active throughout the day.

5. Recruit your friends

You don’t have to go through the battle to stay healthy alone, collegiettes! According to Mattox, having a partner or partners is one of the best ways to ensure you’ll keep that promise to yourself about being healthy. “Social support is huge,” she says. "Accountability is the number one reason why people choose to work with personal trainers or nutritionists!"

Obviously you can’t bring your trainer on vacay (we wish), but Mattox says recruiting a friend is a great way to re-create the effect. She recommends committing to a plan beforehand with your friends—whether that’s drinking enough water, making smart food choices, getting enough exercise or all of the above. "Making that affirmation ahead of time is very powerful," she says. "Also, you can figure out what you’ll need to do to make that plan happen."

Even if your friends don’t want to join in, consider saying something casual like, "Last time I had a crazy vacation, I felt awful for so long after. This week, I’m definitely going to do everything in moderation!" When your friends know you want to have a healthy trip, they’ll be way less likely to pressure you into, say, eating something you’re not hungry for or having more drinks than you’d like. They might even be influenced by your choices.

With these tips, you can have a super-fun spring break without sacrificing your health! Have a great vacation, collegiettes!

5 Moments *Almost* as Dramatic as THAT Part from the 'Bachelor' Season 22 Finale

0

In case you (somehow) missed it, tonight's Bachelor drama was, as Chris Harrison liked to put it (again and again), "unlike anything we've ever seen before." While Arie ended up proposing to Becca and saying goodbye to Lauren, he went from being boring AF to being hated by pretty much the entirety of #BachelorNation by deciding to end his engagement to Becca on an uncut, unedited segment on the finale, explaining to her that he still has feelings for Lauren and wanted to pursue them — all while the cameras were rolling, refusing to leave, even when she asked him to multiple times.

Of course, there were also plenty of dramatic moments that lead up to the emotional roller coaster that was the episode's ending — read on for a quick recap.

1. When Becca was forced to spend the majority of her time with Arie's family talking about...Lauren

For some reason, literally not a single one of Arie's family members got the memo that, when your brother/son is dating two women at once, it's really awkward to bring one up in front of the other. Unfortunately for Becca, she met Arie's family after Lauren and, for some reason (despite the fact that Arie's family seemed to be super pro-Becca in the end), was forced to spend a large majority of her visit with them explaining what she thought of Lauren and whether they were friends. (Um, no?) Tears were involved.

2. Caroline spilling more ~tea~ on everything she knows about this season's drama

So yes, we'll totally own up to the fact that we have no idea which episode Caroline left on, and we really don't remember much at all about her from this season. But when she was brought back again tonight to dish that, "What [Arie] did to both of them is just not fair. It’s unforgivable," and basically roast him for not knowing what he wants, we have to admit that our ears totally perked up.

3. Bekah and Sienne throwing shade on live TV

Season 22 faves Bekah M. and Sienne deserve an award for blessing us all with what were pretty much the only enjoyable moments of the night. Not only did Sienne throw shade by saying she was, "doing the Krystal," as an explanation for losing her voice, but Bekah M. continued the savagery via her not-so-subtle reaction to Chris Harrison telling her "it could have been her" getting engaged to Arie — which basically said it all.

"If you're conflicted with this decision, then you shouldn't propose," Bekah said, and preach girl, PREACH.

4. Arie just standing there, knowing he's about to break Lauren's heart, while she professes her love for him

Things took a turn for the really awkward really fast when Arie went to break up with Lauren, only to spend an excessive amount of time just standing there while poor Lauren gave a lengthy monologue about how much she loves him — only afterward does he inform her that, nope, he's actually breaking up with her. As if it's supposed to make Lauren feel better, Arie informs her that he wasn't even sure about the right decision until three hours ago, and makes things even more confusing by telling Lauren he loves her before putting her in her car. Yikes.

5. Arie's less-than-enthusiastic face while proposing to Becca

In case it was unclear, no, this is definitely not how you want your fiance's face to look when he's proposing to you and telling you how much he loves you. Let's just say Arie seemed a little less than thrilled about proposing to the woman he's supposed to be spending the rest of his life with — and it definitely showed later on in the episode.
