That Viral 'Friends' Movie Trailer is Fake & I've Never Been More Upset

Another year, another plea for a F.R.I.E.N.D.S. reunion. Since the finale of the iconic sitcom aired in 2004, fans have been praying that Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer would reconnect at Central Perk coffeehouse just one last time.

Then, last week, it seemed like that was going to finally happen.

The awfully convincing "movie trailer" turned out to be a fan-made video, E! News reports. Millions of hopeful viewers (including me) were left disappointed when the video was proven to be a simple hoax.

"The One With the Reunion" may not be a reality just yet, but the editing wizard behind the video has some solid ideas for a present day episode. The "trailer" incorporates clips of Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Ross reconnecting in their 2018 lives, but the friends seem to have separated since we last saw them.

The video's description explains, "This picks up a few years where the final season left off with Ben and Emma grown up. Mike and Phoebe have trouble with marriage, Monica and Chandler are getting a divorce, Joey couldn't find someone, and Ross and Rachel have trouble after many years of not being together! Filled with some surprise appearances by today's actors, along with some old friends (no pun intended), this movie will be an all-star extravaganza, while showing a lesson in being there for each other."

As it turns out, all the scenes were pulled from other projects that the cast has worked on since their days together on NBC. So we aren't being blessed with a reunion film, but at least fans can pretend that TV's favorite gang is back together for the two minutes and 57 seconds of this viral video.

To avoid false hope arising once again, let us be reminded of the words of the show's creator, Marta Kauffman. As she told Deadline in 2016, "A show has a lifespan I believe, it has a lifespan like anything else, and there's no reason to continue doing it just because people miss the characters. Watch the old ones, there is no way we could win that. And there's no way it would be satisfying and it'll never happen. We'll never do it."

As Ross Geller would say, "Really, I'm fine."

Olivia Munn Shut Down Those Chris Pratt Dating Rumors in the Best Way Possible

Rumors fly around like confetti in the Hollywood world, and a recent one involves a "romantic" dinner between Olivia Munn and Chris Pratt, which naturally sparked dating rumors. Pratt just recently split from fellow actress Anna Farris in December 2017 after eight years together. The rumor was obviously a hot topic considering the recent divorce, but Munn made sure to let everyone know the rumors simply weren't true.

Her main goal was to tell Farris directly that the rumor was just that — a false assumption. Munn texted Farris and shared the conversation via Instagram story. Honestly, Anna couldn't be sweeter in her response, BTW.

Isn't that just the nicest interaction ever? Anna was clearly very understanding, which Olivia brought up in several stories preceding this text screenshot. She built up the screenshot of their conversation by expressing several things about the rumor. First, she mentioned that breakups don't always leave a woman upset, which I assume she's talking about Farris.

Next, she said that not all women get mad at each other for dating their exes, which once again probably refers to Farris and Munn.

Then she mentioned that because of these things, her and Anna are totally good, despite the rumors flying around.

Then she reminded us how important it is for women to support other women.

Finally, she cracked a little joke about what it'd be like if she was *actually* dating Chris Pratt.

After all of this, how could you not love Olivia for her honesty and sense of humor? I'm so glad she made sure to let everyone know that you can't believe everything you read.

Actor Timothée Chalamet Once Again Proves He's Cardi B's Biggest Fan After Rapping 'Bartier Cardi'

Actor Timothée Chalamet has expressed his love for rapper Cardi B before when he gave her a shout-out during his acceptance speech at the IFP Gotham Awards. He mentioned how she, among many artists, inspired him to pursue his career. Though this is so adorable, his recent rap on the SAG Awards red carpet Sunday night might just take the cake when it comes to his love for Cardi.

The Call Me By Your Name actor was up for Outstanding Performance of a Male Actor in a Leading Role and though he lost to Gary Oldman in Darkest Hour, he still left with a win for the best red carpet moment.

While he was on the carpet, he was asked about Mary J. Blige and Cardi B. and their impact on Chalamet.

“Well, they’re both New Yorkers and they’re both from The Bronx, I know Cardi B. is from the Bronx, I'm pretty sure Mary J. Blige is from the Bronx," Chalamet said. "My grandparents are from The Bronx, I live in the Bronx, and the music is lit, and it’s what I was listening to on the way here."

Then he shared his favorite Cardi B. song. "Well, it’s got to be ‘Bodak Yellow,’ but ‘Bartier Cardi’ just came out, which is fantastic."

That's not all, though. Chalamet then went right into rapping the song and dancing with his mom. It's so perfect, you have to see it for yourself.

Twitter was freaking out over the video like I am RN.

Honestly, this was the best thing I've seen from the 2018 SAG awards. I don't care if you like Cardi B or not, you have to appreciate his open obsession with her. I hope Cardi B sees it and gives him a response.

Maisie Williams Is Going to Be a Bridesmaid in Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner's Wedding, & I Can't Wait

You know that you're still suffering from your junior high crush on Joe Jonas when the reactivation of the Jonas Brothers' social media just reminded you that middle brother and former lead JoBros vocalist is off the market. Jonas got engaged to Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner in October 2017, and I'm so intrigued about this wedding will play out. Will there be a theme of "New Jersey meets Britain"? A cake with musical notes dancing around dragon designs? So many questions.

However, Turner's Game of Thrones co-star and close friend Maisie Williams answered one of the pressing questions on my list. While promoting her role in the animated film The Early Man, 20-year-old Williams revealed to Radio Times that she's already locked in as one of 21-year-old Turner's bridesmaids, Entertainment Weekly says. Excuse me while I imagine an entire Stark family reunion at this wedding.

After hinting at the unpredictability of GoT's upcoming eighth and final season, Williams revealed her role in the wedding party when the interviewer asked if she was "bidding" for a bridesmaid spot. "Oh, I already got it!" she said. "Yeah, it's very, very exciting. It's kind of bizarre, though."

Girl, same.

"We're waiting until the [GoT] season's done until we get into any of that," Williams said of wedding planning. "But I think she's already letting her little heart wander and imagine."

The onscreen sisters have had a well-documented friendship off set. Turner called Williams her "sista / soulmate (sic)" in a May 2017 Instagram post, and the duo even filmed their own Carpool Karaoke segment together for James Corden's Apple TV series.

A Bill to End the Government Shutdown Passed, & Trump Just Signed It

The House has passed a short-term spending bill to move towards ending the government shutdown, the New York Times reports. Allowing the bill to officially reopen the government, President Donald Trump signed the measure on Monday evening, meaning that government employees would return to work on Tuesday. A bipartisan group of senators worked together to create the solution to the three-day shutdown.

The bill consists of a plan to fund the federal government for another three weeks. It also allows for the Children's Health Insurance Program, or CHIP, to run for another six years. The program has recently gotten national attention for its role in the health of talk show host Jimmy Kimmel's infant son, who was born last year with a heart condition.

In a statement, Trump said, "I am pleased that Democrats in Congress have come to their sense and are now willing to fund our great military, Border Patrol, first responders and insurance for vulnerable children. As I have always said, once the government is funded, my administration will work toward solving the problem of very unfair illegal immigration."

Earlier in the day, the Senate passed the bill by an 81-18 margin, while the House of Representatives responded to it with a vote of 266-150. According to ABC News, Democratic senators who voted against the bill were prominent figures such as Sens. Kamala Harris, Cory Booker and Elizabeth Warren. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer discussed his belief that the White House displayed a "lack of bipartisanship" while on the Senate floor. "The great deal-making president sat on the sidelines," he said of Trump, revealing that he hadn't spoken with him since before the shutdown started.

Some Democrats also spoke about their wishes that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would have delayed the vote in order for the bipartisan group to compose a broader bill. Other concerns regarding the bill involve funds related to immigration, although McConnell has assured that there will be a "level playing field" on immigration.

How to Keep Your Single Self From Being Bitter on Valentine’s Day

$

As one of the most commercialized American holidays, it’s pretty hard to get away from Valentine’s Day. Red and pink displays filled with heart-shaped chocolate boxes and bunches of roses crowd the majority of grocery store lobbies, making it rather difficult to shop in peace. By popularity February 14 is supposed to be a romantic celebration for couples, so if you’re single, it might not be your favorite day of the year. And it doesn’t have to be! There are ways to survive Valentine’s Day without being a bitter bummer who curses every cute couple walking down the street holding hands, and here’s how:

Treat it just like any other normal day

When you were in elementary school, holidays sometimes didn’t mean much more than getting out from school. Everyone loved President’s Day because it meant a long weekend. While you still had to go to school on Valentine’s Day, you probably gorged yourself on sugary treats at the class party in the afternoon. Just as you didn’t give much significance to the day back then, you can do the same thing now.

Madison*, a sophomore at Stanford University, says, “Some people see Valentine’s Day as just another day in February and there’s no need to make a big deal about it, especially if a person is single.”

Of course, some of your friends might go out partying or taking their SO out on a fun date, but there’s no obligation for you to do the same. Madison believes “the expectation to partake in some sort of festivities is unnecessary,” as no one can make you do anything. You’re an adult (or at least trying to be).

Plus, there are so many other things you could be doing with your time instead of ironically hating on a holiday dedicated to love. It’s a waste of valuable energy that could be spent procrastinating more efficiently. Maybe you’ve been meaning to start that Gilmore Girls marathon on Netflix since winter break. It’s possible you might also want to try your hand at a new cookie recipe from Pinterest that your roommate texted you the other day.

Valentine’s Day can just be another day on the calendar if you believe it to be. The choice is completely up to you.

Make it your own and practice self-love

If you’re determined to throw an Anti-Valentine’s Day, at least consider turning it into something beneficial for yourself. In the last few years, incorporating self-love into one’s life and dedicating time to it has become a modern phenomenon.

Setting aside time to make relieve the stress that comes with academic and social drama is more important than many college women realize. There are times when you can – and should be –selfish with your private time to wind down and pamper yourself. Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to do so.

“Valentine’s Day is about giving and receiving love,” says Eirene Lo, a sophomore at Temple University. “Especially in this day and age, it is beneficial for all women, in a relationship or not, to practice loving themselves.”

While not everyone has the same self-care rituals, relaxation is often the result of the incorporated activities. Eirene believes the best practices of self-love help you connect to your physical and mental beings.

“Activities may include yoga and meditation, a relaxing bubble bath, journaling, listening to good music, and so much more. [They] do not necessarily need to be an act against the holiday, but merely an alternative as a reminder to love oneself,” she adds.

It’s almost impossible to be bitter about traditional Valentine’s Day when you’re spending time doing all the things you love.

Celebrate Galentine’s Day as an alternative

Even though it’s not an official holiday, Galentine’s Day is more than just a Parks and Recreation reference. Leslie Knope’s brunch date with her female friends has become a real celebration of women showing love and appreciation for other women. Some of the most important people in your life are the sisters you never had. Take Valentine’s Day as opportunity to spend time with your girls and thank them for putting up with you all these years.

Liv Brooks, a senior at the University of Pittsburgh, says, “I think [Valentine’s Day] can absolutely be about your friends! Most of my friends are single, so we use Valentine's Day as an excuse to have some quality time – drink some wine or maybe try out a new restaurant. My friends are the biggest part of my life at school, so I like that there's a day dedicated to appreciating them.”

And if you know the majority of your friends will be busy on Valentine’s Day, plan a get-together on Galentine’s Day, February 13. Going out and having fun the day before can work in your favor because you can then spend Valentine’s Day pampering yourself. And this way, you’re having you’re not technically participating in any typical romantic affairs without being bitter.

With Valentine’s Day approaching, there’s no need to angrily protest against all things romantic and sappy. There are plenty of options to turn the holiday into something that celebrates a variety of relationships. And if you’re still not thrilled about it, the thing to remember is that it only lasts 24 hours. It’ll be over before you know it.

Three USA Gymnastics Leaders Have Resigned After Facing Criticism of How They Handled the Larry Nassar Case

Three leaders of USA Gymnastics have resigned and the coach of the 2012 women's Olympic team has been suspended after months of criticism about the organization's handling of former team doctor Larry Nassar's sexual abuse of athletes. NBC News reports that USA Gymnastics' decision to suspend coach John Geddert came only hours after other leaders' resignations.

Geddert oversaw the 2012 gold medal-winning team members, four of whom have come forward to say they were sexually abused by Nassar. 2012 and 2016 team captain Aly Raisman was among the victims who recently addressed Nassar and officials at a courtroom hearing, sharing details of her encounters with Nassar. 2012 competitor Jordyn Wieber also read her victim statement aloud, while former teammates McKayla Maroney and Gabby Douglas, as well as 2016 gold medalist Simone Biles, have identified themselves as victims.

Following the statements of 124 women at five-day-long court procedures, board of directors Chairman Paul Parilla, Vice Chairman Jay Binder and Treasurer Bitsy Kelley resigned on Monday. Former USA Gymnastics president Steve Penny left the organization in 2017 when he was accused of mishandling reports of abuse from Nassar, who was sentenced last month to 60 years in prison on child pornography charges. According to a U.S. Olympic Committee spokesman, top officials asked Parilla to resign nearly two weeks ago.

"We support their decisions to resign at this time," said current USA Gymnastics president Kerry Perry. "We believe this step will allow us to more effectively move forward in implementing change within our organization. As the board identifies its next chair and fills the vacant board positions, we remain focused on working every day to ensure that our culture, policies and actions reflect our commitment to those who serve."

Although the organization didn't reveal why Geddert was suspended, he was known to be a close associate of Nassar, and was "described as something of a tyrant who funneled patients to the doctor."

Raisman, who has stayed extremely vocal throughout the case, shared a statement via Twitter, calling out the organization for only reprimanding certain board members for their involvement. "And why just those three board members?" she wrote. "How about the others, who either allowed them to do whatever they did wrong, or were so oblivious they didn't know it was happening? Either way, these — and any other changes — won't matter, until we know exactly what happened. Suggesting otherwise is dangerous to athletes."

USA Gymnastics has also received accusations of waiting too long to inform the FBI of a gymnast's complaints, never informing Nassar's employer Michigan State University of claims against him and paying Maroney to stay silent about her abuse.

9 Common Study Abroad Mistakes & What To Do Instead

$

If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to study abroad in college, take it. From traveling across Europe to exploring the “land down under,” there are so many adventures to be had around the world. And what better time to immerse yourself in different cultures than college? You’re already expanding your knowledge and learning more about you who are, studying abroad will help you to do this in an even more unique way.

We spoke with a variety of collegiettes about their study abroad experiences, but more importantly, their mistakes. They shared their insights about certain mistakes they made as well as advice on what to do instead. Basically, they told us what you can do to make your time abroad even better!

1. Not taking the time to do things on your own

Traveling alone can be intimidating. New people, new faces and little knowledge about where you are is a turnoff for many collegiettes. Alanna O’Connell, a senior at Marist College, shares why she believes it’s important to venture out of your comfort zone to truly immerse yourself in new things.

“As fun as it is to do everything with friends, it’s also nice to take time to do things on your own,” she says. “Go on a run at the city’s riverside, visit a museum, walk to that hidden sandwich shop you once saw. Doing things like this alone gives you a new appreciation for the country you’re living in and time to reflect on your adventure. At the end of the day, this is your time abroad, so do what you want when you want!”

Who doesn’t want to be an independent woman? As long as you’re safe in your explorations, don’t be afraid to try new things alone!

2. Overpacking

This is something most ladies can relate to, on any trip we take. It’s easy to think you’ll need every cute clothing item you own, but in reality you should focus on the necessities. Alysson Aquaviva, a senior at Southern New Hampshire University, made this mistake her first time abroad. “For some reason I thought I would need ten clubbing dresses and one pair of jeans and no winter jacket," she says. "I also thought bringing two pairs of four-inch heels to a cobblestone city was smart. Let’s just say those lasted one night only. Also, I didn’t save any space for when I was coming home so I spent about two days trying to figure out how to stuff things accumulated over four months into two suitcases.”

One of the worst things is having to leave behind some of your belongings because they won’t fit in your suitcase. This is where owning a lot of basics can come in handy. You can pack the essentials and spend your money on fun accessories abroad, which take up less room and keep you looking stylish.

3. Not keeping a journal

Journaling, or even blogging, is a great way to help you remember specifics about your trips. While abroad you’ll usually travel to other cities or even countries. You do so much that it becomes a blur, but keeping a journal can help you revisit special moments.

“I really wish I put in the effort to even jot down some of my feelings and experiences that I had,” Alysson says. “Being able to look back at a certain day and remember how I was feeling or what was going on at that time would have been nice.” Alysson suggests taking a lot of photos if you’re not one who enjoys writing. “I will always be able to cherish them,” she says.

We say do both! Start a blog or write in a journal, but definitely take lots of pictures! These are all great ways to revisit certain memories years later.

4. Not exploring your host city

No matter where you study, it’s important to take the time to get to know the area you’re living in. Many people get wrapped up in the idea of travel, which is wonderful, but if you have the opportunity to learn more about your host city, don’t pass it up. Alysson shares her regrets from studying abroad her first time around.

“Not taking the opportunity to appreciate and explore my surroundings as much was a very big mistake,” she says. “As amazing as it was to travel around to nine other countries during my stay, I feel as if I did not have the chance to really get to know the area that I lived in.” This resulted in not making as many connections with locals or fully indulging in the food and social culture of that area.

It’s easy to get swept up in the thought of travel, but it can be even more rewarding to truly get to know the area you’re living in. Plus, you can always return to explore different places another time!

5. Not doing research on the places you visit

Spontaneous travel is no doubt exciting, but sometimes researching places before you go to them will allow you to fully make the most of it. Juliet Goulet, a senior at Bishop's University, talks about wishing she knew more about events before they happened.

“Partying is fun, and I spent a lot of my time doing it, but I missed out on so many things because I didn’t spend the time to research them. Every so often I would stumble on something, like a Christmas market, and be wowed by the intricacy, quality and atmosphere. And I would want more, and curse my terrible luck that I didn’t know about them sooner.”

Although there is always plenty to do and partying abroad seems to be a must, researching ahead of time might help you discover more culturally rich things to do or places to visit.

Doing research can also save you money. Erin Lovett, a senior at Lasell College, says, "A lot of people don't check all of their options when it comes to booking flights and hostels. I have learned that it is best to do your research and look through all of your options. Whether this means taking a bus instead of a plane or staying in a hostel a little outside of the city to save money, it's worth it." Be sure to take the extra time to compare prices and find the best options for your journeys before you finalize your plans.

6. Saying no

Similar to exploring alone, trying new things can be nerve racking. This usually leads to you saying “no” due to the fear of going out of your comfort zone. Juliet shares why you have to give yourself the chance to try new things, even if your natural instinct is to say no.

“Whether it’s trying food you’ve never eaten before, hanging out with classmates you don’t know very well yet or taking an impromptu trip across the country, you should be able to finish your exchange experience with a long list of things that you said 'yes' to,” she says.

“On the very first night I met my new roommates, one of them had the idea to go to a pub. I was tired, jet-lagged and hadn’t even unpacked yet, but found myself ordering a 1£ beer and having one of the best nights of my four months there.”

Her memorable night never would've happened if she had said no. Don’t be scared to try new things and branch out to meet new people. Clearly, it can be very rewarding.

7. Not bringing enough money

It’s no secret that traveling can be expensive. Being a full-time college student doesn’t make this any easier, either. Making sure to go abroad with a budgeted amount of money is important because it will allow you to do more things.

“I worked two jobs the summer before I left and made enough money for my semester abroad that I literally lived like a Florentine princess,” Maria Rago, a senior at Emmanuel College says. “I shopped. I went on trips almost every weekend and I never said no, unlike some of my friends. There is no 'next time' so take advantage of the trip you’re on. Get lost, make friends, cry happy tears, but never turn something down because of money.” We love this mindset, but realize every situation is different. Don’t be afraid to budget for the more important things you want but never turn down the chance to indulge. You’re only abroad once, so enjoy yourself!

8. Over-planning

There is a definite comfort that comes with plans. You know what to expect and this can be necessary in some cases, but what’s the fun in that?

Juliet, a planner herself, tells why she wishes she was a tad more spontaneous during her time abroad. “You never know the adventures you can have when you just decide to go. Instead of worrying about sticking to a plan you get to enjoy the world around you,” she says. “Once, I was taken on a surprise trip to Bath. I knew nothing about the trip, which albeit scary was also exhilarating. It was the most spontaneous thing I did that semester, and I loved every minute of the adventure.”

Spontaneity always seems to lead to the best stories. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.

9. Getting hung up on the things you didn’t get to do

The sad thing about studying abroad is that it usually only lasts for a semester. This means your time is limited, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. If anything, it makes your time more valuable so you can truly focus on the things you want to do. Juliet shares why you shouldn’t dwell on the things you missed.

“You’ll never have the chance to do everything," she says. "You’re only one person in a big foreign country, and you’d need an entire lifetime to experience everything. You should leave your time abroad thinking of all the positive experiences you had, not stuck on the things you never did.”

This thought is true in all aspects of life. Why focus on the negatives or dwell on the things you missed when there is so much else to smile about? Realize your time is precious and plan your adventures abroad accordingly.

No matter where you go or who you travel with, keeping a positive mindset and an open heart is a must. Trying things out of your comfort zone can help you discover a lot about who you are, or better yet, who you want to be. Be sure to take time to explore safely on your own and never turn down an opportunity to be adventurous. This world has a lot to offer, and hopefully with these tips you will make the most of your travels!

HC Wake-Up Call: 58 Refugees in Australia Are Coming to the U.S., Royals' Cousin Princess Eugenie Is Engaged & Cheesecake Factory's Brown Bread Is Coming to Grocery Stores

Good morning Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

Up to 58 Refugees in Australia Are Coming to the U.S. as a Resettlement Deal

The Huffington Post reports that up to 58 refugees in Australia held at an offshore detention center will fly to the United States on Tuesday. Split between two different flights, the all-male refugees have been staying at Papua New Guinea's Manus Island facility after previously trying to reach Australia by boat. Included among the group are Rohingyas, Afghans and Pakistanis who will eventually settle in L.A., Philadelphia and certain parts of North Carolina. The immigration procedure, carrying out for the second time, aligns with a resettlement argument formed between former President Barack Obama's administration and the Australian government in 2016.

Move Over, Harry: Princess Eugenie Is Engaged to Longtime Boyfriend

The royal family never rests! While 2018 already promises a royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton's third child, we now have another royal wedding to look forward to this year. William and Harry's 27-year-old cousin, Princess Eugenie, has announced her engagement to longtime beau Jack Brooksbank, CBS News reports. After dating for seven years, the couple plan to marry this fall at St. George's Chapel in Windsor, only months after Harry and Meghan's May wedding.

Jack and Eugenie, the daughter of the Queen's second son Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, seem to be literal couple goals for her mom. Often known as Fergie to the public, Sarah apparently spent her morning creating memes of the couple for Twitter. It's a weird way to express love, but okay. Congrats to the happy couple!

Cheesecake Factory Will Sell Its Bread in Grocery Stores

We all know that the titular dessert at Cheesecake Factory is what’s really worth a visit, but the restaurant chain’s bread is a close second when it comes to amazing dishes. The infamous Cheesecake Factory brown bread will soon be available online and in grocery stores, but with unique twists. The recipe will appear as in three different forms: dinner rolls, mini baguettes and sandwich bread. This basically means that you can turn to the delicious brown bread practically every day. I’m sold!

What to look out for…

What better way to celebrate an ordinary Tuesday than with pie? Today is National Pie Day (not to be confused with the mathematically inclined Pi Day), and depending on your location, you may be able to find a free or discounted dessert deal. If not, that’s what baking nights are for!

How to Find Out if You're Being Paid Fairly

$

0

Welcome to the working world! You’ve done everything right. You worked hard all through school and landed job. You’re getting paid money you couldn’t even dream of in college and have started planning how to pay back those student loans. You’ve come so far and have been working so hard. Awesome! But you could be being paid less money than you’re worth without even knowing.

Do your research

There are many websites available to help you check salaries in your field. Tom Dezell, author of Networking for the Novice, Nervous, or Naïve Job Seeker, suggests salary.com, payscale and Glassdoor. In your research, it’s important to focus on your geographical location. Mary Pharris, Director of Business Development and Partnerships at Fairygodboss, says that your salary will change depending on where you are because things like cost of living will factor in. She also recommends using your network of friends, colleagues and mentors in your field or related industries to find out about your salary. You may even find help at your alma mater’s career center!

There are many different factors that play into how much money you should be earning. For example, your experience can actually earn you more money. Consider your level of education and time working in your field (even if it's not at your current job) as making you a sort of expert in your field. Similarly, any professional certifications could earn you more money as well. As you work, keep track of the duties you’re responsible for and any projects you complete successfully. All of this can come in handy later!

Consider your coworkers' salaries

What about what your coworkers are making? Well, you may want to think about that. Many people think that money is something you should never talk about with your coworkers. So can you do it or not?

First, you should check your contract. Some contracts have stipulations against employees discussing their salaries and you should follow those. Second, you should choose someone you know and trust. Dezell points out that “unless people show actual paystubs, [you have to] rely on their honesty.” If your contract allows it and both of you are comfortable discussing your salaries, go ahead and hit up Danielle.

Keep in mind that although your company may not want you to, it’s not illegal to discuss your pay with coworkers!

For some people, finding out they’re being underpaid will come rather abruptly. For Cece Buck, an accountant and graduate of Rutgers University, her notification came in the form of a law change. New Jersey passed a law that any employees working full-time in the US had to be paid overtime if they were paid an hourly rate/base salary under a certain amount (about $48,000). “I was under the cut-off, as were two of my male coworkers, so we were each told that we would be raised up to the base. I was excited, but quickly realized that if I was being raised up to the base salary, so were they, and I had been at my employer working full-time for over a year more than them,” Cece says.

Bring up the subject with your boss

If you find out through your research that you aren’t being paid fairly, there are things you can do. You need to make an argument for yourself. Collect the research that you’ve done on salaries in your field, but also compile a list of your own accomplishments and a plan on where you want to go from there. “The plan is what will really stand out to them,” Pharris explains. “Your accomplishments show that you’ve done great things, but the plan shows that you can continue to do great things.”

From there, you should contact HR or your supervisor. Schedule a sit down conversation where you can make your case. Many jobs actually have reviews built into their schedule; these meetings would serve as a great opportunity for you to bring up a raise. “I sat down with my boss and my human resources representative,” Cece says. “I thanked them for the raise, but brought up that if they were paying me the base, I had to assume that the two other employees were being paid the same and that I should be paid more based on my time with the company.”

Be brave during the conversation

This can be incredibly intimidating. After all, you’re asking your boss for more money. Find your voice, speak up and keep in mind that you’re only asking for what you deserve. The odds are that your boss will understand. You may be surprised by their reaction. “I could tell that my boss, who is a woman in a male-dominated industry, was impressed with my negotiation. I think that she was surprised I had the guts to bring it up,” Cece explains.

If you're denied a raise, you still have options

So what do you do if they say no? Well, the obvious option is that you can find a new job. If you are trying to find a new job, you should make sure you find one before quitting your original job—and always give at least two weeks notice! But this isn’t always super realistic.

If your boss says no to a raise, you don’t necessarily have to leave the company. You can consider negotiating for other benefits like vacation time, remote work options or a higher 401K contribution. You should come up with these back-up options when you make your plan; if you already have the back-up ideas in your head, you’re less likely to just get up and walk away if your boss says no to a salary raise.

'Wonder Woman' was Completely Shut Out of This Year's Oscars

Despite being nominated for both this year's Critics Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards, Wonder Woman received exactly zero Oscar nominations on Tuesday.

Superhero movies definitely aren't award frontrunners; however, many thought that Wonder Woman would at least receive a nod in the Directing, Visual Effects or Costumes categories. Patty Jenkins was the first ever female director of an American studio superhero movie.

The film didn't do too bad, either — it was just the highest-grossing superhero origin movie of all time, bringing in more than $800 million. NO BIG DEAL.

Twitter, as always, responded accordingly.

I demand justice for Wonder Woman!

Arie Found Out Bekah's Age on This Week's 'Bachelor'& Things Got Real

Arie and the 15 remaining women traveled to Lake Tahoe in this week's episode of The Bachelor, and of course, there was no shortage of drama. Oh, and at one point, there was talking of Jenna drinking her own pee.

But the biggest ~shock~ of the episode — at least for Arie himself — came during his one-on-one date with Bekah. She finally told the 36-year-old Bachelor that she's only 22.

Before throwing out the actual number, the two discussed getting serious, with Arie wanting to make sure Bekah was ready to commit.

Despite the show's buildup to the reveal implying that her age would be a deal-breaker, that wasn't the case. Arie did, however, dramatically cover his mouth and say "Oh my god."

Arie went on to express his concerns about pursuing a deeper relationship with Bekah. "I'm not here for a 22 year-old girlfriend. I'm here to find a wife," Arie said.

But before we could run to the kitchen for another glass of wine, Arie continued, "This could be the start of something amazing," and then gave her a rose.

Let the lovefest continue!

Miranda Lambert Used New Lyrics in 'Little Red Wagon' to Diss Blake Shelton

Miranda Lambert just found a way to make her iconic single “Little Red Wagon” even more iconic.

Lambert, who kicked off her Livin’ Like Hippies tour in Greenville, South Carolina last Thursday, made a small edit to the song during the performance.

In a video published on Twitter, instead of staying true to the lyric, "I live in Oklahoma," Lambert, full of sass and a hair flip, sang, "I got the hell out of Oklahoma."

Speculators immediately made the connection between the state of Oklahoma and Lambert’s previous relationship with Blake Shelton. The two lived there together during their four-year marriage, which ended in July 2015 when they announced their divorce.

Lambert has been dating musician Anderson East since December of the same year, but the sarcastic reference to Shelton is almost too obvious to overlook.

Even the music video accompanying the song alludes to Lambert’s old flame. In a quick frame toward the end of the song, Lambert is seen wearing a belt reading “Mrs. Shelton.” Clearly the song — released in January 2015, just months before the big-name split — holds some Blake-related meaning.

In an interview with Glamour in April 2015, though, Lambert revealed little about the personal meaning of her recording of the Audra Mae song.

"I think it's just about a state of mind," Lambert told them.  "I've got this on my own. I've got swagger...I think it's just sassy, and it's up for whatever interpretation you have as a person."

Sure, Miranda. We see you, girl.

Kim Kardashian Is Releasing a New Kimoji Perfume Line & Now I Know What I’m Getting My Single Self for Valentine's Day

Just in time for everyone’s favorite romantic holiday, Kim Kardashian West is releasing a new trio of candy heart-themed fragrances. With the line set to hit the KKW Fragrances official website on February 1st, the beauty mogul and new mom of three probably hopes to repeat past years’ unbelievable successes.

In November she launched the KKW Crystal Gardenia collection but only in a limited supply of 300,000 units. And her first collection sold out in less than three hours!

Kim K has been working on this limited edition collection for quite awhile according to her social media accounts. Along with new scents, she’s been busy developing a line of concealers, baking powders and nude-colored lipsticks. But it doesn’t seem like they’ll be ready for pre-date makeover sessions on Valentine’s Day.

It’ll be no surprise if these perfumes — BFF, Bae and Ride or Die — sell out faster than we can decide which one we want to splurge on. To prevent potential disaster, we might as well just purchase all three, right? There’s no harm in having multiple scents to choose from.

We’ll definitely have KKW Fragrance Instagram notifications turned on in case more details are dropped in the coming days.

How to Handle Your Casual Hook-Up on Valentine’s Day

You finally got the courage to talk to that cute guy from your class, and one night at the bar, he made a move. You’re both having fun, but you decide to keep it casual without any real commitment. When your friends ask about him, you respond that you’re “hanging out” and nothing more, and you feel confident in this answer… until February rolls around. That’s when you realize that fun and flirty has the potential to get really awkward.

Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love and friendship, but it’s more commonly known as the Hallmark holiday to get romantic with your SO or drink wine with your best friends. It can be fun whether you’re single or taken, but can be tricky for those of us whose relationship statuses aren’t so clearly defined. If you’re casually seeing someone, Valentine’s Day can get awkward. Here’s HC’s guide for how to handle your casual hook-up on February 14.

You’re not official, so you don’t have to do anything special

The biggest source of your anxiety probably comes from wondering if you have to do something special with your casual hook-up on Valentine’s Day. There’s definitely pressure to be romantic on February 14, but if you’re not official, the experts say celebrating Valentine’s Day together isn’t required.

“A gift would be nice, but definitely not necessary if you’re not in a defined relationship,” says Dr. Ish Major, psychiatrist and dating expert.“You’re not obligated to see each other, get together, go out or even hook up on that day. It’s not a ‘relationship,’ so it’s likely not exclusive.”

If you want to keep things strictly casual with your hook-up, consider doing something else on Valentine’s Day, whether it’s a chick-flick marathon with your girls or pampering yourself with a pedicure. You might be involved with someone, but you’re technically single, so show yourself some love instead!

Small gifts are okay to give

On some level you probably care about your casual hook-up, so if you want to get him or her something small, make sure it’s more funny than romantic.

“If you are not in an official relationship, but see something that reminds you of the person, it is a lovely gesture to give it to him or her,” says Jodi RR Smith, etiquette consultant and president of Mannersmith Etiquette Consulting. “However, if you want to keep it casual, keep the gift on the light and funny side and under $20. When in doubt, a card is a great way to do something without it being too much.”

Dr. Ish encourages erring on the side of caution so you don’t send the wrong message. “Be careful [with gifts],” he says. “You don’t want to send the wrong message that could change the dynamics of what you have. It’s a balancing act.”

For example, instead of getting your casual hook-up a teddy bear holding a heart that says, “I love you,” give your hook-up some of his or her favorite candy or a funny card. You want to send the message that says, “I care about you” versus, “I’m madly in love with you.” A good rule of thumb: If you would feel uncomfortable getting the gift from your casual hook-up, don’t give it to him or her.

Giving gifts can get potentially awkward, especially if one person doesn’t reciprocate. If you decide to get your casual hook-up a small gift and you don’t receive one in return, don’t take it personally. “Remember the phrase: ‘Nice but not necessary,’” Dr. Ish says. “[The person] you’re hooking up with might be shy about giving gifts for Valentine’s Day because they don’t want to send a too strong of a message. It doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t care about you or think less of you; it just means they’re unsure of what, if anything, to do.”

On the flip side, if your casual hook-up gets you something for Valentine’s Day and you’re caught empty-handed, don’t freak out. Instead, stay calm and thank him or her sincerely. “Look him or her in the eye and say, ‘Thank you so much for thinking of me!’” Smith says. “Remember: A gift is not given with the expectation of getting.”

Don’t be afraid to talk about Valentine’s Day plans

The best way to avoid awkwardness on Valentine’s Day is to just have a conversationabout it. You might feel uncomfortable bringing it up depending on how long you’ve been hooking up or how casual the relationship is, but if you don’t want to keep guessing, bring it up casually without adding any pressure.

“You can say, ‘Hey, I wasn’t planning or expecting anything but I just wanted to double-check. Are we doing anything for Valentine’s Day?’” Dr. Ish suggests. “Keep it casual; keep it light. But do ask. [There are always] expectations or lack thereof, so it’s better to talk about them early than letting the day come and having it turn into something awkward.”

Want something a little subtler? Instead of flat-out asking, make a joke about how over-the-top convenience stores get with the holiday or ask what he or she’s doing that weekend in general. It would get the conversation started so you can gauge how your hook-up feels about the holiday, and then you can decide to make plans or not!

Whether you want to do something for Valentine’s Day or not, talking to your casual hook-up can be a lot easier than trying to guess what will happen on February 14. As long as you’re clear about how you feel and your expectations for Valentine’s Day, you can avoid the awkwardness!

If you find yourself somewhere between “just friends” and “in a relationship” with someone, Valentine’s Day can be a tricky situation. Before you rush to define your casual relationship or end it, keep these tips in mind so you can successfully avoid any awkward encounters on February 14!

The Complete List of 2018 Oscar Nominations: 'The Shape of Water' Dominates, First Ever Female Cinematographer Nominated & More

The nominees for the 90th Academy Awards were announced bright and early on Tuesday morning. This year's previous awards shows, like the Golden Globes and Critics Choice, served as early indicators of frontrunners like The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri— but that doesn't mean there weren't surprises (and, in my opinion, snubs!).

Irregardless of any opinion on the selected films, there's no denying the significance of some of this year's nominees. For example, Mudbound's Rachel Morrison made history as the first female cinematographer nominee. Roman J. Israel, Esq.'s Denzel Washington scored his eighth Oscar nomination, making him the most-nominated black actor in Oscar history. Greta Gerwig, nominated for her director role on Lady Bird, broke the eight-year all-male streak. She is only the fifth female Best Director nominee ever. The Shape of Water's Octavia Spencer tied Viola Davis as the most-nominated black actress. She's also the first black actress to receive back-to-back nominations. Meryl Streep received her 21st Oscar nomination for The Post, breaking her own record for the most actor nominations in history.

#OscarsSoWhite certainly isn't solved for, but this year could've gone a much different direction. Hopefully, the Academy will continue to listen to its audience and prioritize diversity.

Face Mask & Chill: I Tried A Probiotic Bubble Mask, & Here's What Happened

$

In the last few years, I feel like the entire world of skincare has completely blown up — but in the best way possible. There are so many different products out there to try, from serums to masks to essences to moisturizers, and the possibilities are endless. As a skincare obsessive (a phrase that basically means I spend an absurd amount of money, and time, on skincare), I try to stay up-to-date on the latest and greatest. I want products that work, but I also want products that are fun AF, and one such product I've been so curious about lately is the bubble mask.

This week on our Face Mask & Chill segment on Instagram Stories, I tried out a newly launched mask from H2O+ Beauty: The Soothing Probiotic Bubble Mask

What really drew me to this mask is that it's a bubble mask, but one that seems to be more than just on-trend. The fact that it has probiotics and champagne and yuzu extracts made me super curious, as I take probiotics religiously and also enjoy champagne, but had no idea how they'd actually benefit my skin. But if champagne could make me pretty, I definitely wouldn't hate it.

The mask was so, so easy to apply, which, if you read last week's story, you'd know is one of my top requirements for face masks. They can be such a pain, but this one required hardly any product at all, went on super easily, and was just generally a positive experience to put on. Within literal seconds, the liquid formula was turning into bubbles, and I could actually hear my face bubbling. For sure one of my most bizarre face mask moments EVER, but I didn't hate it. It was pretty darn cool.

ICYMI on our Instagram Story, you can watch a video review of the mask below!

So what was the result? My skin felt extremely hydrated, and some acne scars (thanks, hormonal zits) were just a bit lighter. Overall, my skin felt way softer, and I was impressed to realize it's not a single-use packet, but that you can actually use the mask several more times! H2O+ Beauty recommends using one packet 2-3 times, which is a straight up steal considering how affordable it is.

Plus, there was no weird tingle or tightening. Pro tip: if your skincare products make you tingle or turn read, they're probably not right for you. While it might feel like it's just having a super strong impact and really scooping the crap out of your pores, in reality, it tends to be a sign of irritation. This was super gentle, and would easily fit into your skincare routine since the clean up was minimal. And for just $6, it's going to fit into the average college student's budget much easier than your typical soothing mask.

Another year has flown by and we've borne witness to another powerful night at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. It seems like only yesterday we were buzzing about David Harbour's passionate acceptance speech, and now we're recognizing the silence breakers and moving forward in the #TimesUp movement.

Aside from the political and social standout moments, there was plenty of good fashion to admire. Darling baby pinks and silvers reigned, with the occasional pop of bright color making a surprise appearance. Here are some of our favorite looks from the red carpet!

1. Yara Shahidi

Yara's updated spin on the LBD was the perfect mixture of trendy and classic.

2. Natalia Dyer

I never thought it could be done, but Natalia has managed to make galaxy print tasteful. Now, where can I buy a skirt like that?

3. Lupita Nyong'o

As always, Lupita looked classy and utterly otherworldly in this smoky mermaid gown.

4. Nicole Kidman

Nicole opted for old Hollywood glam vibes, and it paid off in this stunning look.

5. Margot Robbie

Margot sported a beautifully simple beaded gown with a hint of 1920s flapper style.

6. Millie Bobby Brown

A sugary pink gown with matching converse looked absolutely gorgeous on MBB.

7. Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse added silver and black accents to her take on the color of the night, giving her an ethereal silhouette.

8. Kristen Bell

As host of the ceremony, Kristen opted for a refined, timeless black gown with silver accents.

9. Mandy Moore

Mandy took a simple sheath gown to the next level by wearing it in a deep cerulean blue.

10. Gina Rodriguez

Gina wore her Time's Up brooch proudly with her floral mosaic dress.

11. Allison Janney

Allison's chainmail-esque dress was the epitome of fierce.

12. Uzo Aduba

Perfectly fitted with an off-the-shoulder element, this gown made Uzo look like a Greek muse.

13. Sydelle Noel

Arguably one of the brightest looks of the night, Sydelle looked positively radiant in this flowing honeysuckle gown.

Can We Talk About How Susan Sarandon Slayed the SAG Awards Red Carpet with a Pair of Sunglasses?

At the 2018 Screen Actors Guild Awards, in the midst of celebrities dressed in elegant gowns and dashing suits, stood one actress who dazzled us all. Susan Sarandon took a bold move and wore sunglasses on the red carpet (and looked hella confident while doing so).

Now, there isn’t exactly a rule against celebrities wearing sunglasses to award shows, but it’s not something that's typically seen. Maybe she wanted to show off the work of her glam squad, or maybe she just doesn't enjoy photographs? Whatever the reason may be, it's obvious that Sarandon doesn’t give a damn about the rules.

= @albertaferretti #sagawards

A post shared by Susan Sarandon (@susansarandon) on

She did give a shout-out to her glam team via an Instagram post, but that didn’t stop her from sporting some shade on the red carpet. Regardless, Sarandon looked like a rockstar and absolutely blew us all away.

Twitter, having an opinion on everything per usual, offered words of praise for Sarandon's ~look~.

Now, you're probably wondering where to get these amazing shades, and at what cost? Well, Sarandon's Moooi x Gentle Monster Divinity sunglasses can be yours for just $240. Moral of the story: Susan Sarandon can pretty much wear anything she wants and still look like a stunner. Hands down, her sunglasses definitely ruled the 24th Annual SAG Awards.
