Last week, Crooked Media obtained an internal White House document that shows that the Trump Administration hopes to cut funding for Title X (a federal grant dedicated to family planning) and put that money toward “programs to promote ‘fertility awareness’ methods of birth control.”

What are 'fertility awareness' methods of birth control? According to Bustle, The rhythm method is also called the calendar method or "fertility awareness," because it’s all about knowing when in your cycle you’re able to potentially get pregnant —and when you’re in the not-fertile ‘safe zone.’ Basically, you are only fertile for a certain period of time each month, so if you’re using the rhythm method, you avoid unprotected sex when you’re fertile.

Although the rhythm method is great for some people, especially those who don’t use the pill for religious reasons, it is definitely not the most effective method of birth control. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, up to 25 percent of fertility awareness users will become pregnant.

This is because there are so many variables involved with this method, and it’s impossible to know for certain when you’re fertile. Needless to say, lots of people aren’t huge fans of our government promoting a method of birth control that fails 25 percent of people, especially when there are methods that are 99.9 percent effective.

Many people believe that the Trump Administration’s discouragement of contraceptives is at odds with its anti-abortion stance. Abortion rates have decreased 25 percent from 2008 to 2014, but births have not increased during this time. Why? According to the Guttmacher Institute, “Improvements in contraceptive use—particularly among women aged 20–24, who account for one-third of unintended pregnancies in the United States—were an important driver behind the decline.”

Data suggests that decreased access to contraceptives will not decrease sexual activity, but it will increase unintended pregnancies and abortion rates.

The Trump Administration’s discouragement of the pill is yet another piece of the never-ending conversation about the role that the government should play in regulating reproduction. It is a complicated issue and, as young women, we are arguably affected by it more than anyone else — so we need to stay educated so that we can be at the center of the conversation.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has confirmed he will run as an Independent when he seeks reelection to the Senate in 2018, according to The Hill,and will not join the Democratic Party despite some recent pressure to do so.

He made the confirmation to Fox News in an interview Sunday night.“I am an independent and I have always run in Vermont as an independent, while I caucus with the Democrats in the United States Senate. That’s what I’ve been doing for a long time and that’s what I’ll continue to do,” Sanders said of his decision.

There are some Democrats out there who have been pressuring Sanders, as well as other Independents, to officially run as a member of the Democratic Party. Sanders caucuses with the Democrats in the Senate already. In fact, Democratic National Committee member Bob Mulholland introduced a resolution at the DNC’s fall meeting this year that would have made Sanders and Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) run as Democrats in any future elections. However, the resolution failed to receive enough votes for a simple majority and did not pass.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Sanders sought the Democratic presidential nomination and angered some Democrats in doing so. He did eventually concede the race to Hillary Clinton.

King has also said he’s running as an Independent again in 2018.

In an interview with CNN, King said, “I’ve been an independent since the early 90s. I was a governor as an independent...that’s who I am."

Raise your hand if you've heard this one before: A simple tweet from Kim Kardashian sent Twitter into a frenzy. On Monday, the social media mogul asked for double stroller suggestions, and Twitter collectively lost its mind, jumping to the conclusion that Kim is having twins.

Among the panic and stroller recommendations in her replies, fans also suggested that Kim ask Beyoncé, who gave birth to twins of her own in June. 

Kim quickly shut the speculation down, reminding everyone that she already has two children. North, 4, is probably at an age where she doesn’t need a stroller anymore, but Kim’s second child, Saint, is only 2 and will most likely still need a stroller when Kim's third child is born.

As previously reported, Kim is expecting her third child via surrogate with rapper husband Kanye West. Kim finally confirmed the news on the season premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians after months of speculation. Kim and Kanye have yet to spill the gender or due date of their newest addition, but several media outlets have reported that the baby is a girl due in January 2018.

Everyone stay calm—it looks like exes Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are hanging out again.

In photos obtained by TMZ, Justin is seen walking into Selena’s house in Studio City, Calif., on Sunday, Oct. 22. According to TMZ, the two are just friends and have hung out several times in the past few weeks. The two reportedly reconnected after Selena announced that she received a kidney transplant as a result of her lupus.

Selena and Justin dated on-and-off in a highly public relationship that began in 2011. Since their split in 2014, both have spoken candidly about their tumultuous relationship. In Nov. 2015, Justin told Access Hollywood that he would always have love for his ex-girlfriend. However, in Aug. 2016, the goodwill between the two blew up in a very public, very shady Instagram fight that led Justin to delete his Instagram for a short time.

Now, it seems the exes have moved on from their feud and are working toward becoming friends again. They reportedly spent time together over the weekend with mutual friends. Selena’s current boyfriend, The Weekend, was not present due to his tour schedule, but he supposedly knows about the friendship. Justin has recently been linked to multiple women, including Kourtney Kardashian, Hailey Baldwin and Sofia Richie, and he's now reportedly dating actress Paola Paulin.

While it seems like a full-fledged Jelena reunion is out of the picture, it’s great that the exes are able to bury their animosity and move forward as friends.

Coming into my first year at Ohio University, I knew that we were not only known for our parties and Halloweekend, but also for being one of the most haunted campuses in America. Opening a year after the state of Ohio was established in 1804, it's a given that with the area's rich history, there are bound to be some very old ghosts walking the streets of Athens. Before coming to campus, students hear about the supposed hauntings, especially in the old Athens Lunatic Asylum (now called The Ridges), the haunted dorms and cemeteries. Knowing the campus's spooky history, I figured I would hear about paranormal activity, but I never expected to be personally touched by it. Here are just a few personal hauntings I've experienced, as well as some things experienced by others here.

As freshmen, we're the last to pick for scheduling and housing, but I was able to choose sooner than others by living in a learning-community designated dorm. After picking my room on the second floor of Washington Hall, I did some research to learn more about where I would be living for the next year. I found out that Washington Hall opened in 1955, was named after President George Washington and that it was supposedly haunted by an entire women’s basketball team. They died in an accident, but had had such a great time on campus that they decided to stay. 

Going into move-in day, I expected some strange things to happen, but not anything too bizarre. Within the first week, though, I woke up to find scratches on my body, including actual broken skin on my shoulder. Oftentimes, I found myself waking up early in the morning with both my sheets and comforter having been completely pulled off onto the floor. I'm not a crazy, restless sleeper, so there's no way I could have caused that myself! Food, tissue boxes and things on my desk were sometimes moved around, and I'd find them in strange spots the next day. Those who lived around me have also had similar strange occurances. They've heard knocking on their windows late at night, had their hair pulled, their music turned off out of nowhere, and just generally experienced so many other creepy things that defy explanation.

Our campus also rests near the Athens Lunatic Asylum, which is supposedly haunted. Overcrowding, inhumane practices and patient deaths eventually shut the center down. While it's used as a museum and space for art students now, students are convinced the building is cursed. One of the best-known legends is of Margaret Schilling, a female patient who disappeared in 1978 and was found dead weeks later on the abandoned top floor with her clothes neatly folded next to her. Some say that she now roams the building along with other patients.

By the time a student graduates, it's almost certain that they will have had a paranormal experience or two while living on campus. Especially after my personal experience after living in a room that's so haunted that it's unlivable, I'm convinced that Ohio University is one of the most haunted campuses in America.

Hemsworth is in Georgia filming his new flick Killerman, in which he plays a money launderer suffering from amnesia after getting into an accident. He was recently photographed on the beach, and while it's unclear if he was shooting a scene while there, this makes me wonder if we have more ocean kisses from Hemsworth to look forward to in this movie. 

A fan later shared a photo of herself with Hemsworth in a store. It's good to know I'm not the only one wondering where Cyrus is.

Earlier this summer, Cyrus even threw things back to that epic Last Song kiss on Instagram, proving that Tybee Island is still quite special to the couple. I mean, that's enough to prove that a reunion on that beach must be in the works, right?

TV actress Heather Lind has accused former President George H.W. Bush of touching her inappropriately while posing for a photo together, NBC News reports. The TURN: Washington's Spies star revealed the incident in a now-deleted Instagram post, saying that Bush touched her behind and made a dirty joke while they, former First Lady Barbara Bush and Lind's castmates posed for a photo at a 2014 private screening of the AMC show. 

Lind seemed inspired to talk about the encounter after seeing a photo of Bush shaking hands with former President Barack Obama at the recent "Deep From the Heart"hurricane benefit concert. She said that she felt "disturbed" seeing the photo, recalling her own experiences with the former leader. 

"He didn't shake my hand," she originally wrote, according to HuffPost. "He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side. He told me a dirty joke. And then, all the while being photographer, touched me again. Barbara rolled her eyes as if to say 'not again.' His security guard told me I shouldn't have stood next to him for the photo."

Calling out Bush for abusing his power to enact change, Lind said, "What comforts me is that I too can use my power, which isn't so different from a President really." 

The former president's office released a statement in response to Lind's claims, emphasizing Bush's physical ailments. "At age 93, President Bush has been confined to a wheelchair for roughly five years," the message stated, "so his arm falls on the lower waist of people with whom he takes pictures."

In an initial statement, spokesman Jim McGrath said, "President Bush would never—under any circumstance—intentionally cause anyone distress, and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humor offended Ms. Lind."

The second, more detailed statement probably could have been worded a little less controversially, explaining that to comfort people in photos, Bush "has patted women's rears in what he intended to be a good-natured manner." Um, what? 

Lind has yet to publicly respond to Bush's apology, but if I was her, I would definitely feel uncomfortable with what the statement implied.

The Kardashians are multiplying more than ever before, even though sisters Khloé Kardashian and Kylie Jenner have danced around their pregnancy rumors for quite some time. While neither women has confirmed anything yet, PEOPLE seems to be in the know when it comes to 33-year-old Khloé's pregnancy. The magazine reported that Khloé and her boyfriend Tristan Thompson are expecting a son, which honestly makes a lot of sense. Certain women just seem like they'd do well with sons, don't they? 

Us Weekly claims that Khloé visited the doctor several weeks ago for a 20-week checkup and that things between her and Tristan could be even more serious in the future. "Marriage is definitely in the cards," a source said. "They are just waiting for the right time to move forward. Khloé doesn't want to rush into anything." 

Although everything points to all of the pregnancy speculation among this family being true, middle sister Kim Kardashian West turned to Twitter soon after Khloe and Kylie's initial baby news broke, suggesting that such stories were false. 

While Kim is expecting a third child via surrogate, baby of the family Kylie is reportedly having a girl with boyfriend Travis Scott.

Private Files About JFK's Assassination Will Be Released Today

CNN reports that President Trump's administration will release government documents covering former President John F. Kennedy's assassination on October 26. It's unknown whether or not Trump has prevented any portions of the files from being released in the interest of certain material harming U.S. intelligence. While some members of the intelligence community have reportedly warned Trump not to publicize some of the files, JFK historians don't believe that the files will reveal anything new about the significant event. If anything, it seems that this information may provide insight into why assassin Lee Harvey Oswald was in Mexico the week before he killed JFK. 

An American Ambassador Is Being Investigated for Inappropriately Speaking to Women in Samoa

Scott Brown, U.S. ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa, is now under investigation for making inappropriate comments to women while in the Samoan capital Apia on an official visit. CNN says that a State Department inquiry has begun after people complained about Brown telling women they were "beautiful" and could make "hundreds of dollars" in services industries.

In response to the complaints, Brown insisted that cultural differences led to the controversy. He has also garnered criticism for defending President Donald Trump's behavior in New Zealand interviews, telling an interviewer that the president had apologized for misogynistic-sounding comments. However, Brown has accepted the negative response, saying in an interview, "I was told that, ‘You know, listen, you’re not Scott Brown from Rye, New Hampshire, anymore, you’re an ambassador and you have to be culturally aware of different cultures, and different sensitivities.’ And I’m always welcoming that kind of advice." 

"Senior leadership at the State Department has been in contact with Ambassador Brown and he has been counseled on standards of conduct for government employees, which also includes ambassadors," a State Department official said. 

Disney World Reveals Details Behind Toy Story Restaurant​

Following up on plans to launch an entire Toy Story-themed section in its Hollywood Studios park next summer, Disney World has now revealed what kind of food service is in the works for the new area. Toy Story Land will feature the quick-service restaurant Woody's Lunch Box, which is expected to serve soda floats. The restaurant will be decked out with "some of Andy's favorite toys and items from his lunch." All the more reason to plan a trip to Disney World!

On Thursday, President Donald Trump will use an event at the White House to publicly announce the opioid crisis as a national epidemic. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 140 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose, raising this issue to emergency levels. 

This announcement comes several months after President Donald Trump said he would designate the crisis a national emergency, but failed to do so, according to CNN. He also campaigned on the issue heavily during the 2016 election. 

However, during a press conference last week a reporter prompted the President about his plans to address the issue, to which he responded, “We are going to have a major announcement, probably next week, on the drug crisis and on the opioid massive problem and I want to get that absolutely right.”

The key takeaway from today’s announcement will be funding. According to CNN, President Donald Trump will, “direct federal agencies to provide more grant money to combat the epidemic, not an order through the Stafford Act.”

This has already sparked criticism, as many advocates and officials were hoping for something with greater impact and the use of federal funds to aid this important problem. Under this new plan acting Secretary of Health and Human Services Eric Hargan will declare a public health emergency under the Public Health Services Act which in turn will direct federal agencies to provide more grant money to fight the new epidemic, according to NPR.

The CDC reports that more than 64,000 people died of drug overdoses in the United States in 2016 with a large number of those individuals overdosing on synthetic opiods, painkillers like Percocet or OxyContin or heroin. As Vox notes, the death toll from overdoses is "a higher death toll than guns, car crashes, and HIV/AIDS ever killed in one year in the US, and a higher death toll than all US military casualties in the Vietnam and Iraq wars combined."

The order that President Donald Trump will declare can be renewed every 90 days, until he no longer deems it necessary.

The NAACP issued a statement on Tuesday that cautioned African-American from traveling on American Airline flights after numerous racially charged incidents were reported by customers. 

According to the statement one incident included, “Despite having previously booked first-class tickets for herself and a traveling companion, an African-American woman’s seating assignment was switched to the coach section at the ticket counter, while her white companion remained assigned to a first-class seat.”

While another account said that an African-American woman being removed from her flight when she requested to have her stroller be retrieved from baggage claim before the plane departed. 

A portion of the statement instructed travelers to “exercise caution, in that booking and boarding flights on American Airlines could subject them disrespectful, discriminatory or unsafe conditions.”

The NAACP praised those who came forward with their stories and encouraged anyone else who had experienced disrespect or discrimination with American Airlines, to share their story as well. 

Derrick Johnson, President and CEO of the NAACP stated, "All travelers must be guaranteed the right to travel without fear of threat, violence or harm.” The travel advisory is in effect beginning October 24, 2017, until further notice.

With Season 2 of Riverdalein full swing, several relationships have blossomed, including Bughead's and Varchie's, making the couples one of the best parts of the show. Though I absolutely love Betty and Jughead together, and like Archie and Veronica together too, I still wonder if Betty and Archie will get together at some point.

In Season 1, Betty confessed her feelings for Archie, but Archie didn't reciprocate. Could Barchie happen down the road, though? Lili Reinhart is leaning toward no. "I don't think Betty has feelings for Archie anymore," the actress told TVLine. "I think that's over and done with. She's in love with Jughead and is happy being with him." Well, gee. Over and done with?!

If this sounds like horrible news to you, Lili suggested that Archie might see things differently. You probably noticed Arch was acting especially weird around Betty in the Season 1 finale. Lili had an answer for that. She said Archie could be "wanting something that [he] can't have…He has a wandering eye, you know?" Oh girl, we know.

Lili gave fans a little peace of mind when she said Archie and Betty do have a love for each other—it's just platonic. As for Bughead? She called them a "solid duo," which I can totally work with.

It's a little heartbreaking to know Barchie won't ever happen, not even if Bughead and Varchie fall apart, but for now, this is okay. I want Jughead and Betty to be together more than anything, so that's what matters more.

Can't DeMario Jackson just take his 15 minutes of fame and go? Months after his run with the Bachelor franchise came to an end, DeMario continues to stir up drama. This time, the infamous former contestant is coming for host Chris Harrison. E! News reports that DeMario called Harrison an "asshole" on The Rose Buds podcast, but that was only the tip of the iceberg. 

DeMario claims that the beloved Bachelor franchise host has always hated him. "Prior to the whole Corinne show, [Harrison] had a hard on for me as if like, I like, hooked up with his wife or something. It was crazy," DeMario explained. "I met this guy three total times for less than 10 seconds and he legit hated—like, when I say hate, like deep-rooted. Like him and I at the Men Tell All, we had like 30 minutes of battle and I'm like 'bro, Lexi—I was already told they put her up to it…And then he went to the press and talked all this shit when we were in the middle of all this."

The world's love-hate relationship with DeMario began when he tried to charm his way into Rachel Lindsay's heart during Season 13 of The Bachelorette. His smooth words couldn't save him when a woman approached Rachel during a group date, claiming to be DeMario's girlfriend. The wannabe star was sent packing, only to be welcomed back in another attempt to find love (or fame) on Season 4 of Bachelor in Paradise. Controversy continued when production was halted due to an incident between DeMario and fellow contestant Corinne Olympios. Though an investigation found no evidence of misconduct, DeMario did not return to the show. 

Verbally attacking Chris Harrison won't do any wonders for DeMario's damaged reputation, but that didn't stop him from showing his true colors on the podcast. "It was to the point where like 100 percent I kept it real, I called Louie and I said, 'If he tries this shit when I do the sit down with Corinne, I will knock him the fuck out. Like period. Like straight up,'" DeMario said of sitting down with Harrison to discuss his side of the BIP story. "I was like, I just don't like the blatant disrespect for a man that I do not know, like bro, I met you three times for less than this. And it's funny because the media will portray certain people in certain lights and whatnot, but he had a crazy hard on for me and I did not get it at all. It was nuts."

The media may portray Chris Harrison as ABC's golden boy, but DeMario is proving to be a serious drama king.

Dressing up as a superhero is a tried-and-true Halloween classic. What does it mean to be a female superhero for Halloween? To some people, it literally means wearing a cape, fighting villains and having supernatural powers. Selena Gomez has had a year full of ups and downs, from a kidney transplant to her adorable relationship with The Weeknd. Now, she's nearly ready to release a new album…or two?! In an interview with Zane Lowe from Apple Music, the singer revealed she's been working on so much new music that she has enough songs to make two albums.

"I want to get back in and re-focus on all of my music," she said. "To be honest, I feel like I have two albums already completed, but I'm wanting to figure it out. So it's a lot sooner than I think people anticipate. I want to call the shots, I want it to be good, I want to be ready, I don't want to do anything that's forced. It will be soon." Dang, I hope soon is like next week because it sounds like Selena's been working on a masterpiece. Sel added that she wants to spend this extra time on her music because she wants it to "be a lot more meaningful."

Selena has been dealing with a lot, juggling her health struggles with making music. Her slower process in making this album wasn't an accident. "I didn't want it to be crowded by over-glamorized things and the pop world can just be really distracting sometimes. This year, I did it at my own pace." Good for you, girl! I'm so happy she's taking the time to do what she needs to do. 

There's no word yet on when the album (or albums) will drop, but I have no doubt Selena's new music will be amazing given the amount of time and effort she's spending to make it something she's proud of. Until we know a definite release date, let's just replay her latest single, "Wolves," to make the time pass faster.
